When it comes to transfers we dilly and dally about trying to get 3-5m off the clear transfer value of a player the club has identified as desirable early doors, then other clubs come in early, pay the mutual valuation and build their team. Then we have to spend more than the potential savings on obtaining other players for the positions even though they are down the pecking order in being selected for their current clubs and also for being bought by other clubs.
Not just this transfer window, but for every transfer window since we dropped to League 1.
If the 49ers want Leeds to be a big club in 5 years time, it is time for Leeds to start adopting a big club attitude without repeating the over-indulgences of the past.
