  • Good window or bad

Having had a night to reflect for me it’s been a decent window.

Midfield, GK and defence all a lot stronger and with more depth. Longstaff and Gudmunson possibly the best signings for us.

Still confused by letting Rama go and not bringing in a replacement and not sure how Solomon ended up at Palace given he knows our system.

Think the frustration was the club inferred more signings and not happened but if and a big if Nmecha and DCL can get and stay fully fit then that should give us enough up top.

Harrison looks very solid too so maybe that came into the reckoning and Gnonto for me has been our best wide player so far.

Ofakor may turn out to be great - just need him fit/

Overall not bad and could have been a lot worse though I do get the feeling that we got off to a slow start in the window and never fully get on top of it.

Leaving it to late signings when more established clubs needed players was always going to be a risk.

Hey ho - window closed so no more incomings and maybe someone from the youngsters will get a chance. Would like to see Crew back and given some minutes if Ampadu doesn’t come back soon too.

Started off well, but finished up embarrassing and inept. Should have done business for attackers earlier instead of running around like headless chickens and trying to sign anyone, every other team, including Sunderland and Burnley were able to do this, our people who supposedly do this should be embarrassed to take their wages this week.

I think Stach, Longstaff and Gudmonsson have been good. True Premier league level players. Perri looks good too. Brought back Harrison, really not sure about that. Should not have let Ramazani go. Have to wait on Nmecha and Calvert-Leuwin.

Compared to some of the last decades windows this one was really good. Easy to look at the negatives but we do have a strong side and some quality prem level signings in that group. We also got rid of some payroll that was hurting us. We didn't lose anyone that we wanted and needed to keep.

He doesn't fancy Rama for some reason so at least he's still part of the the roster and developing elsewhere. we will likely rue that as the season goes on and injuries pile up but at least he's not an "issue" as far as the club house.

we also have Gray in the pipeline. A lot more likelihood he gets some minutes this year. we are somewhat settled at the wing backs for the first time in ages.

I'd have taken this window in a minute if told this would be it after the end of last season.

Sunderland has gambled a lot. If they don't stay up they will have huge PSR issues. They went all in.

How on earth did you come to that conclusion? Only team so far to shoot at him made Meslier look ten times better. Go watch Arsenal's goals, and every single one, he reacts after the ball has gone past him.
As for Logstaff experienced and is a better version of Ambadu, so pass.
Stach looked super vs Everton, then the next 2 were no better than grueev.
Gudmonsson, I feel very comfortable on that side so very good pass.
The one that stands out for me and one I was very sceptical about is Lewin. I feel that if he stays fit, it will click quickly for him. Let's hope, of course, he plays him.
Disappointment for me is that the championship players haven't come on, especially our attackers, and we've basically done nothing about it, and the ones brought in are no better.
Big failure for me, and I predict an early exit.

Isn't that the idea! If it fails, at least you're going down fighting. We, on the other hand, are already planning to come down, but we hope to survive.

I'm a Little fuzzy on the planning to go down statement.

So we beat a team that had a very good run of games closing out last season in the prem, They beat Brighton and beat Wolves at home (not an easy place to play). we were drilled by a prem runner at their place and drew against another champions level team. we had several player too new to the Leeds system to understand it and still have 4 points. I personally think we were the better of the 2 teams against the Geordies.

I can't really say we are going to go down without fighting but Farke's teams do tend to start out slower than some but once all the players acclimate I think we'll be a hard opponent anyone we play. It's obvious that the Gunners are a bogey team for us and obviously a much stronger roster but there are only a couple of other teams in that category in the prem.

In the cold light of day and the dust settled, and if anyone could be bothered to look at the transfer thread this time last year, we were probably all making the same kind of worried comments as we are now.
                Turns out it went ok.
Nothing more we can do except give it a go.
Hoping for more Everton’s and less Arsenal’s with the odd Newcastle thrown in.

Disappointing window for me but I?m not yet disillusioned. We still have the Jan window to correct mistakes that may have been made so I?m hanging on to the hope that Farke can muster a fighting spirit to compensate for a lack of quality (Compared to other PL squads).

Maybe the happy clapper in me but I?m a romantic and think we can stay up.

I think a realist might disagree

                    It is what it is.

Individuals can make a difference, but successful teams have always been based on players knowing how best to work together so that the total is greater than the sum of the parts.

It is and Farke has encouraged exactly that so we?re not done yet. Burnley were a good example of how ordinary players couldn?t survive as a team, for quite a few seasons. Not sure how enjoyable it will be for us perhaps witnessing many more losses than wins.

Think a lot will rest on getting Ampadu and Tanaka back asap and then avoiding serious injuries to key players for the season.

The thing that killed Bielsa in the end was a small squad with loads of injuries in key positions and not having the depth of quality to deal with those.

If we have to play Piroe for extended periods then it is likely to be a long hard season.

Very interested to see what Bijol and Ofakor bring when up to speed.

In my post it should have read ? ordinary players could survive as a team not couldn?t - sorry I should have spotted the typo.

I was told that Bielsa went to the Board and said the team had run its race and that basically they had nothing to give. They were spent. I understood that he told Radrizani that he would need a complete renewal of the team and that a huge investment would be needed in order to gain traction in the PL. I understood that the board was not able to agree on that stance. He was fired as we all know but I believe he was going to walk if he could not have the financial backing he felt absolutely necessary.
