  • Thoughts from the game

    Fcuuuuuuuk.

We looked very solid until the last 8 minutes when we ran out of steam. Farke needs to replace and sub players quicker when obvious they have nothing left in the tank.

For most of the game we didn’t look out of place and the back 4 looked decent. Ofakor looks very promising and I can see why we signed h him.

DCL if he can get and properly stay fit also looks like he’ll come good.

Difference was the depth in quality off the bench. Traoré made a big impact but Kevin looks like he could be amongst the signings of the season - he was tremendous.

Very very unlucky not to get a point.

Harrison wasn’t brilliant when he came on and Nmecha atruggled to make an impact.

If we play with that commitment for the next 5 games then we should get something. Out of some of those games.

That?s a season changer game. Win that and a lot of momentum. Now we are a confirmed relegation contender

Defense is fine now but how many games do you go scoreless putting huge pressure on them before they fade. It is human nature

Aaronsons inclusion is a head scratcher. Think Gnonto or James causes them a lot of problems. DCL and Okafor were prem level and longstaff is a solid prem player. Darlow is very steady

We just never looked like scoring and that has been pretty evident in every Premier League game so far. Also one of the worst own goals I?ve ever seen , wtf was he doing?

        Long old season ahead.

5 things from that game..1, very, very cruel to lose in that way, 2, arronsson should never be ahead of Gnonto or James as he offers nothing, 3, the totally inadequate boards failings to bring attacking players in now shows alarmingly, and 4, why oh why did they let ramazani leave, this game was crying out for his flair, speed and attacking skills, 5, if it wasn’t for darlow we’d have lost by more, he’s better than perri, oh and last thing, this site is terrible to get on to.

Further thoughts now I’ve finally made it home.

Farke definitely tweaked the formation and how we set up within the game. At times we looked a little like a mirror of how Fulham approach the game.

Without the ball we tuck in with the full backs and make the middle of the pitch really hard to play through so we can win the ball back.

With the ball we tended to have both full backs split wide and hugging the touch line with a midfielder dropping to almost form a back three - typically Ampadu.

Aaronson I think was picked to start more for his work rate and pressing when we don’t have the ball. He was pretty decent in that role. He is much more limited when we have the ball but not for a lack of effort.

Ofakor was our best attacking player by a mile and can take players on out Al wide - he is also physically big.

Unlit the last 20 minutes the game was pretty even and there wasn’t that much between the two sides.

The biggest difference was the last 20 minutes for one of or both of the following reasons.

Their bench just had more quality. Entrapped as I said before scared the defence and tended just to be available in attack and not do much defensively. Kevin as I said before was the best player on the pitch by miles. Smith Rowe would start for us I suspect. First half we pressed their CBs especially Anderson from whom a lot of their attacks stem from - last 20 we didn’t.

We dropped deeper last 20 and started hitting longer balls which encouraged them to come at us in waves.

The goal shows are corner kryptonite remains.

Again, the fear is Farke doesn’t see what is happening on the pitch as Longstaff and especially Stack looked tired yet stayed on the pitch. Tanaka was warming up close to where I was sat and looked fine. He would have given us an outlet.

The hardest part of the PL is that it’s so hard to compete with teams who have been there for a few years and recruited well as the depth of quality in their squads just makes the gap huge.

That said this game was crying out out fa Ramazani type player to come on which is what Fulham had.

Gudmonson was really good until the corner so felt for him.

Will be a long old season but we definitely deserved a point out of that but we always made it more likely they would gain the way we retreated and fell off the more the game went on at the end.

Struijk was immense so Bijol may have a little while yet to wait for a start.

I don’t fancy Farke as a previous thread might suggest,
                Wasn’t his fault today.
                Shyt happens.
Next game is a win only option.

                    Sorry Billi

It?s 100% his fault. When you have players dragging ass the last 20 and leave them in you?ve lost the game. The pace of the prem is so fast that many can?t go 90+

You have Tanaka, James, Gnonto etc and they would have matched up fine against their tired players or subs. We were outcoached

Pretty much sums it up. This all seems so far away from the heady days of Bielsa where we might have lost games but it was at least exciting. We have the worst attacking line up in the Premiership and nobody (except maybe the Board) should be surprised by this. The negative German Clown only makes it worse when he leaves our best attacking options (Willy and Dan James) out of the line up. Calvert-Lewin looks worse than Barndoor - at least he ran around every now and then. Unless we bring in some new players very soon, this is going to be a long and inexorable slide towards another miserable relegation.

We were also v v unlucky - watched their goal back Rodon?s fault for not jumping which left the FB with no chance.

He definitely set us up v differently to Arsenal.

Last 20 Fulham went for it and we tried to cling on. What is also obvious is how much of a gulf in class between us and the teams who have established themselves and spent well.

That game last 20 was made for Jospeh and Rana to come on and make a difference - another of his faults.

Sad reality there is a lot of better quality in the prem compared to us.

                        Squad
                        Manager
                        Ground
                        Coaches

It will take time and money to bridge that gap.

Fulham new stand is impressive and must generate significant income for Fulham but to be fair a pint of Guiness was only ?5 which for London is a relative bargain.

Also don?t think Farke is half as clever as he seems to think he is.

                          Nuno keeps us up.

And yes, we offer a lot to the right coach. There is a gulf but we have a good squad, great support, good ownership and a good youth academy

Some of the established team in the prem are not that good this year and Forest is a clown show ownership.

Watched some of the Forest game pre Leeds’s game - Ange seems to be trying to get them to play Angeball straightaway and they looked clueless at times.

Horrible to say but as much as we need to pick up points we need others to lose. Kind of want Burnley to go well today but from a Leeds perspective a drubbing helps us.
