Very sad. Thoughts and prayers for the wife and kids. Tough to lose your dad at any age much less that young.

At the risk of poking the bear.... Speed is usually blamed for many accidents but simplifying the issue to a simpleton talking point. Drinking also gets blamed a lot as well. Here in the states we have so many moronic and dangerous drivers that cause accidents that have little to do with speed or impairment. Any clown can get a drivers license and many have no clue on even the most basic vehicle operation or road etiquette/courtesy. We also have millions and millions that don't have drivers licenses and when they get stopped they are let go because they are here illegally and not subject to US laws in many areas ("sanctuary cities).

We have legions of A-holes that hang out in the left lane (passing lane here), on cell phones, speeding up and slowing down, no turn signals (not sure if BMW's have those), no concept of merging, turn left in front of traffic, speeding through school zones and construction zones. We've dumbed down the expectations to the point where we have to lower the speed limits and mark off construction zones for miles and miles.

As a 40 year motorcyclist with 1000's of miles under my belt I've seen it all. My "near misses" must be approaching 1 per 100 miles. The incompetence is staggering.

We have no idea what happened in this incident but it could be some bozo pulled in front of him or ran them off the road. I know the europe has stricter driving expectation (especially Germany) but I'm sure they have plenty of incompetents as well. Easy to blame on the driver but it's often not the case.

Not in this case, as they came out and said they were speeding. We have problems with Indian Chinese drivers here. They are the worst of the worst and cause a lot of accidents. They come here, don't learn our road rules, and drive like they do in their homelands. Statistics from there homeland say 240k die in road accidents a year in India and 200k in China. We also have problems with elderly people who should not be driving on our roads eg, yesterday,

Perhaps the tire blew when they went off the road because some clown cut them off or moved into their lane with no notice or turn signal.

I also know that many times "experts" write what fits in their narrative of their world view. If the car they were overtaking moved over to block them and they ran off the road it's highly unlikely the driver of the other car is going to report they ran him off the road. So many dicks out there driving like they own the road.

That car is equipped with a tires rated over 186 mph and has an active suspension system that lets the drivers know if tires are low, out of balance or alignment. Just seems odd that the tire let go at that most inopportune time.

I'd be curious as to whether the other driver is "connected" with the government, police, local judge, or a "leading citizen". Some people are more equal than others when it comes to law enforcement.

Look, I once drove stupid on a highway on the way back from Sydney. I was doing 140 km an hour, about 87 miles an hour. My front tyre did blow, I lost control, and went from one side of the freeway right across to the other, hit 3 trees walked away, the car didn't. So seeing that car, I can imagine what speed it must have been traveling. It was also reported by witnesses that they seen the car speeding prior to the crash at different times.

Before people say ok, they're dead stop making up theories so on. That's where the world is going wrong because if you don't talk about people don't get it. If by people speaking up and raising awareness, what can happen, well, if 1 life is saved by listening, that is a win. P.S. I never sped again as the 3 rd tree was coming at me and closed my eyes and let the steering wheel go, I thought I was done.

Like can be capricious - lucky to be here after a crash when I was in my 20s - sort of led me to be liberated a bit.

Modern Western society struggles with dealing with risk and what is the right level and whether to control everything.

Things in life are rarely risk free and sure we all had moments in younger days where we did things we wouldn?t now.
