10 mill waaay too low for this player. Worth more to us to keep him.

20 is my valuation of a good to excellent English player in his prime, with a good attitude.

Would easily start in 70% of PL teams.

    Leeds can do one

    70% of clubs? Really?

I don’t think he would start in any team in the top half, if he wasn’t local there would have been calls for him to go a long time ago.

I’d put him in the bottom half of the table, a team that is just about good enough to stay out of the relegation mix in a decent season, but no better than that.

I remember when we had all the comments on here about us not losing with him in the team, when he was keeping Tonali out, and I said it then and I say the same now… bang average player, takes too long when the ball is played to his feet, most of the time he passes it sideways and backwards, poor movement and anticipation of where he needs to be, and loses the ball too much, especially for a player who is more a 6 than anything else.

10m with 1 year left on his contract, I’d probably try and get as close to 15 as possible, but I’m not gonna lose sleep over a number in-between or even 10 if I am honest.

Can’t fault his loyalty, wish him all the best, but if we’d got rid of him sooner then we might have kept Anderson and played him more, he’s in the way of Miley at the moment (who has far more potential than Longstaff), and for his own good, at his age, he should go and get regular football and will end up on far better money even at Leeds than he is on here.

Yeah 70% has no scientific basis but certainly would start for over 50% of clubs with my over arching point being that he is worth a lot more than the10 million quoted based on the reasons I gave above.

He would start for any club 8th/9th down, certainly Brentford following losing the players they have Norgaard, and potentially Bummo and Wissa.

Scott McTominay went for 25m quid. I would put Longstaff around his level. We should be pitching for 20m but I think if we can get 15m with 1 year left on his contract, he'll go.

I'd prefer we keep him and Bin Willock but Willock does offer the ability to run with the ball when he's fit.

However, that is becoming a more and more rare event.

Word on the street is that Longstaff's replacement is Conor Gallagher from Athleti, who is keen to return to the Premier League.

Decent upgrade and another potential England player in the First team squad.

I wouldn't be mad at that replacement.

Gallagher is one my unsure about but Eddie certainly likes him and we went in for him before he went to Athletico.

I could see us trying to get this one done to be honest, certainly if we sell Longstaff.

Gallagher is a quality player and would be a huge upgrade on Longstaff if that happens. Not sure about his workrate in tracking back but I doubt Simeone would allow players to be lazy.

I?ve always rated Gallagher - hell of a signing if we could pull it off. He wouldn?t be a Longstaff replacement but would be pushing our midfield 3 for a start - just what we need.

I think Gallagher is a very good player...not sure what role he'd play, mind.

Not my choice but if EH likes him, I'm in.

We saw a dabble in change of formation at the end of the season which I liked.

Maybe CG fits with that. He doesn't get near the midfield 3 but maybe a 4 or 5. Dunno.

Add Ekitike in there and we would have real options to mix it up depending on the opposition.

                  Whadda I know.

I think we should keep him, he?s unfashionable but he?s a decent player, Tonali said he is the most underrated rated player he has played with. It?s going to cost us more to replace him and to be honest with other areas needed to be filled it?s unlikely there will be a replacement brought in on time. Im surprised Howe is willing to let him go.

Looks like we've acepted the new offer of ?12 million upfront and ?3 million in add ons.

I still think he's worth more but this money may well get the Etikite deal over the line so I think it's worth it.

Win just about win for all.

                      Newcastle get the money
Sean gets the move to a prem team where he'll be a key starting player.
Leeds get a great player who will give their all for them.

Pleased for the lad. Great servant of the club. A true Geordie Legend. He will be part of the mural on the wall dedicated to the first team to win a domestic up in 70 yrs.

He's lived the Geordie dream, Won a Cup, Scored Champions League goals, scored League Cup Goals that took the club to the final.

Fair play to him. If he had have been developed, like his brother Matty, by the current regime instead of being Pardew'd and Bruce'd Both of them would have developed to their full potential.

He never quite hit the hights we knew he was capable when he burst on to the scene and was touted as a 50m quid player.

However, you can't detract from what the lad has done and what the lad has achieved.

Fair play to him, Best wishes for his next chapter. It's a good fit, he'll play all the time and I'm sure he'll look a lot better playing week in week out in that Leeds set up.

Proud to see Geordies thrive home or away. Live Anderson, sad he's not doing it here at SJP but I take pride to see the lad bossing the Forest midfield and at the U-21s he looked truly junior world class! Well on his way to being an England regular.
