The news broke yesterday that the club are in 'Advanced talks to sign long time target Hugo Ekitike'

Ornstein, Romano, Downie, Hope all reported the club have been in negotiation with Frankfurt and the players agent for around a week.

Even that horrible C**t Delaney is reporting that the deal is a long way down the road. If that loathsome little rat is even making none hate-filled comments about Newcastle United then it's a pretty clear we're close to getting the deal done.

No matter how much that worm hates us, his can't bare to miss an opportunity to placated his pathetic short man ego, so crawled out from under his rock to comment.

German Press are saying the Frankfurt people are in Austria meeting NUFC near the training retreat.

Seems to be well advanced and all the heavy hitters are making all the right positive noises.

Great option up top! A far better choice than Joao Pedro IMO. I really think this is a genius transfer to take the weight off Isak's shoulders and give Eddie Howe loads of options in rotation and pairing the two with Hugo in a Deep Laying SS/No.10 role

    Very exciting!

Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Newcastle’s interest is genuine. He told his YouTube channel: “Newcastle are working on the deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. I told you last week and I maintain my position. Newcastle want Ekitike. They wanted Joao Pedro before he went to Chelsea so they are still looking to add one more offensive player.

“They believe Ekitike is perfect for Eddie Howe in terms of skills, potential and goals to bring to the squad and play Champions League football. Newcastle are working hard on the deal to sign Hugo Ekitike.

“He is a top target for them, really pushing now and working on the agreement on the player’s side at Eintracht. Of course, he is an expensive player so it is not an easy deal but Newcastle are in it in these hours, not three or four weeks. Let them work and see what is going to happen.

“Newcastle are really interested in Hugo Ekitike and are in contact with people in the deal. Let’s follow the situation but for sure, Hugo Ekitike and the Premier League is going to be one of the stories in the second-half of this summer transfer window.”

        Keith Downie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwPz24zHyjI

        Downie reveals Ekitike latest
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Keith Downie reveals that talks are intensifying with Eintracht Frankfurt and Ekitike’s representatives over a potential transfer to St James’ Park, with talks having taken place “over the last five to six days.”

He confirms that a delegation of Toon officials were in Germany last week to discuss a deal, with the player’s entourage then visiting Newcastle’s pre-season training camp in Austria on Monday to hold further talks.

Downie optimistically claims “there’s a real chance that this deal could get done” in what would be a club-record transfer, insisting talks are advancing after discussions have stepped up over the past week.

As he explains below, Newcastle want Ekitike to play WITH Isak this coming season, insisting the Swede is not for sale this summer. Watch his update in full below:

Will Ekitike play alongside Alexander Isak?
A key issue that we’ve faced this window is seeing the likes of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro opt for moves elsewhere reportedly due to wanting first team football, something which isn’t guaranteed with Alexander Isak being our main man up top.

However, as Downie states, we’ve communicated to Ekitike and his team that the Frankfurt star is our “top choice” to spearhead our attack ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.

He also believes it’s smart forward-planning from Newcastle, adding: “I think it’s probably a little bit of succession planning, and if they’re able to bring in Ekitike, they feel they’ve got a player who could be as good as Alexander Isak in the future.”

Hugo Ekitike had more goal involvements than Rayan Cherki and Florian Wirtz last season
Newcastle need a new striker now Callum Wilson has left, and Howe knows it. As it stands, William Osula is the Magpies’ backup option to Isak, and while the 21-year-old showed his quality at times last season, a new striker with experience is still an idea welcomed with open arms.

Outside of Newcastle, big deals have been happening. Florian Wirtz signed for Liverpool while Newcastle target Rayan Cherki joined Manchester City.

The pair enjoyed a great 2024/25 campaign, but they were not able to better the goal involvements of Ekitike.

2024/25 Statistics (All competitions) Hugo Ekitike Rayan Cherki Florian Wirtz
            Appearances 48 44 45
            Goals 22 12 16
            Assists 12 20 15
            Total goal contributions 24 32 31
In all competitions, Ekitike managed an impressive 34 goal contributions for Frankfurt, whereas Cherki could only put up 32, and Wirtz 31. Of course, Ekitike plays in a different position to them both, but his assist tally was just as impressive as his goals.

Pure mint if this happens AND with Isak too i
              toe .

Two stars for each forward position - not a luxury this season IMO but a necessity if we want a good CL run, another cup and top 5 again - which I think this helps cement.

Would be beyond my expectations if true and unbelievably exciting.

Fkn hell. And if we get Trafford and Scalvini then what window guys!!

I’m interested in how we’d play him.

He could rotate with Isak obviously but there is noise around wanting him to play with Isak.

That would take a bit of pressure off the midfield depth if we were to play a more traditional 4-4-2 formation in some games, but if you have both striker on the pitch, that means we likely are not playing all of Bruno/Tonali/Joelinto every game.

I’d think that one of both Gordon/Barnes and Elanga/Murphy would still play on the wings… so which two of the three in the middle get the nod?

Bruno as captain is likely to start I’d have thought, so we have one of Tonali and Joelinton on the bench, or rotating. Add in Miley to get some games, and rumours about interest in Gallagher… makes me think that the door might open for both Longstaff and Willock soon.

Add in a RCB and a keeper and I think that would be a strong squad with options to change formation and bring players off the bench that could compete across all 4 competitions we are in next season… very excited, and would be an AMAZING transfer window if it were to happen.

Real statement if this comes off!

Mind you, I think I would prefer a midfield enforcer to go with a centre back over the GK position

This is too advanced and being reported by too many official channels with confirmation that club reps are in face to face meetings.

This isn't Agent talk. It's beyond that.

We don't hear about deals being this advanced for NUFC these days unless it's credible and serious.

Whether we can close the gap in club valuations with add-on.

I've heard that personal terms have been not a problem.

Let's see what shakes out next few days.

It gives Eddie a like for like quality replacement. We need that to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Top European clubs.

We've got Gordon & Barnes on the left. Now we have Elanga & Murphy for the right. Ekitike and Isak up top just makes sense.

Take all the pressure off Isak. Means he'll not be run into the ground. Isak will be at full energy, won't be run into the red and less likely to sustain injuries or irritate that groin.

Played together one dropping off into the SS role / No.10 - If Isak and Hugo can start to make it work together that will be frightening!

With the power and pace with Gordon & Elanga making the pitch wide, with Bruno & Tonali providing from midfield... Scary!

Exactly man, In games when we need more tekkaz to break down a team sitting deep and parking the bus we don't need J7 and play 2 in the midfield. Against teams that will play on the road we play a more combative Midfield 3. It's great to have options.

Gallagher is an options. He's got the UCL & Prem Experience. However, I'd still prefer to take a punt on Amir Richardson, More powerful with a much similar profile to Joelinton.

Richardson has that same ability as Willock to drive forward with the ball but he's more of an athlete. Got the same physical profile as Isak & Ekitike. Long 6'6", wiry, strong, good in the air.

Scalvini or Guehi, I prefer the Italian and think that Guehi will run his contract down and sign for Barcelona on a free next summer.
He'll captain Palace in Europe this coming season, leave the as a hero and go to Catalunya and live the dream.
