Gents, lasses and assorted high functioning creatures. How's the mental health?

Suffice to say that based on the aftermath of our first Pre-Season match; the 4-0 humping at Parkheed, I can honestly say that I'm less than buzzing.

    Talking points:

    1. Isak to clear his head away from the cameras.
    2. Squad depth.
    3. 6 weeks remaining.

    1.
Eddie's comments in the pre-season regarding Isak being sent back to Newcastle to avoid the camera constantly panning to him in the stands with the commentary team filling the entire 90 mins talking about the F**king bindippers.

Isak wasn't gonna play due to his fitness schedule so I get it but of course when his absence 'OF COURSE' means that he's off. Same as our fan base are speculating about Trafford being away from the Burnley squad that he's coming to Newcastle, or bought back by City should Ederson leave, which is looking increasingly likely.

It's case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

    2.
Wilson, Miggy, Kelly & Longstaff out during last season.
    Elanga in.

Going into our 2nd Champions League season we needed to add depth. Right now we're quite a long way in the opposite direction. Whilst the 4 who left arent' first team, nor the quality required to sustain a top 4 finish and compete in the UCL, having no one to replace the first team 11 is obvious less than optimal... to say the least.

We need to upgrades, shopping in top tier market is the only way we bring in the like for like quality to ensure we have parity across the squad, 'raise the floor of the squad', 'narrow the drop off in quality' from the first 11 to the squad & all the other new football terminology Bollox spouted by MSM muppets to give them that veneer of professionalism.

    3.
This time 2 years ago, we'd only signed Tonali and there were similar grumbles among the fan base. We went on to Sign Barnes, Tino & Hall + Minteh but we all know how that went.

So, whilst I'm less than buzzing. There is still a long time to go before the window closes. Of course it's not ideal but then we're in the worst place a club can be. Challenging the cartel clubs for players without the ability to compete financially with them.

Each target, Delap (200,000 a week) Chelsea, Pedro 220,000 a week and wanted London) Chelsea, Bummo (250,000 a week) filth, Cunha (200,000 a week) filth has gone to a cartel club for salaries more than 50k a week more than our top earners.

PSR is working perfectly... To protect the cartel. However, the Filth are still falling foul of their own corrupt rules which is quite hilarious. Or Rat face is just using it as an excuse not to spend. Either way, their fan base are as depressed as us during the cabbage patch.

    Conclusions:

Eddie is not a stupid man. Sending Isak home was intentional, his comments post-match were intentional and very well chosen.

His excellency Sheikh Yasir will have seen the result and read or heard the comments.

I would expect that Isak being his favourite player, the comments around the speculation and his omission from the match day squad will have sent a clear message to the Chairman that the 'Isak situation needs to be locked down, and done so swiftly.'

Furthermore, the 4-0 battering, admittedly from a team 3 weeks ahead of NUFC in terms of fitness with several top level pre-season games under their belt, is not a good look.

The result points to the fact that we are woefully under-prepared for the season ahead.

That combination of the result at Parkheed, Eddie's comments and lack of success in the transfer window thus far point to the fact that the top brass at PIF need to fly in and give the recruitment team a helping hand.

One thing is for sure. The cartel are pretty much all paid up and brought in their recruits for the coming season. That leaves a much clearer run at alternative targets.

Sesko, Scalvini, Amir Richardson, Chevalier / Trafford (technically) are all still available and no one is seemingly moving forward to sign these players.

Eddie flys out the squad for the asia tour in a few days. He can not be directly involved in recruitment so I would hope that the team around Sheikh Yasir are drafted in to expedite transfers in his remove.

Until the window slams shut, I have faith that we'll get what we need. However, much like Root canal it's a painful process...

The endless joys of being a Newcastle United Supporter!

Great summation Raga all relevant points.

I am not in panic mode, We all know the PSR constraints and the filthy Septic 6 tricks, but I reckon we aren't done and the club know we need at least another 3 in to give us a chance.

HE for me has been the only real set back for us IMO but theres no fat ladies singIng yet and he is an ACL or confidence crisis away from another Nunez. Personally I think he will be a success but we live in hope.

If Trafford can be signed great, but if no plan B needs to happen and we need Scalvini or a plan B within the next couple of weeks so we can focus on the evolving situation for that elusive 9. Wissa wouldn't be a bad call, pragmatic, cheap but theres no sell on possibility and it isn't a ***xy signing. I would be happy enough with that

In EH I trust. No mental health issues just yet.

      Aye, very good post, Raga.

Not gonna lie-I'm concerned about the season ahead. Whatever the reasons and however solid thos reasons are-we've barely strengthened so far. And whilst 'so far' is a very important term because we will strengthen, Eddie called for quick action and we haven't had it.

Aside from the fact that any new signings won't have had pre-season with us, the longer the situation remains, the less likely clubs are to let players leave (because then they'll be left with the same problem. And, naturally, the price goes up, too.

We need....and need is the operative word:

A striker-not a forward, but a striker. We currently have one. One striker to face a full league campaign, a Campions League campaign and two domestic cup competitions.

And the brings me on to a midfielder. We have 3. And see above for why we can't go into the season with Tonali, Bruno and Big Joe doing all the work. Longstaff has gone and we're way past peak Willock.

A CB to partner Botman-or, realistically, to be our best CB when Botman is inevitably injured. I genuinely worry about starting the season with Schar. Much as he's been brilliant, cracks are starting to show and his lack of pace allied to his sometimes iffy positioning, will increasingly catch him out.

And this is before I even mention needing to upgrade Pope.

I realise this is looking on the gloomier side of things and seems harsh given our outstanding season just gone. But, this Summer is absolutely pivotal. Our rivals are strengthening and we have, I suspect, one more season with one or more of Tonali/Bruno/Isak/Gordon to build on our achievements last season to show that we are progressing.

None of this has been prompted by yesterday's defeat but that loss has hardly eased any fears I had.

Much as Mitchell the 'person' won't be missed at NUFC, the lack of direction caused by his departure is absolutely a problem. Wouldn't blame Eddie-or some of the players-for feeling disappointed/confused or even a bit let down

      Moan over. Apologies.

Agreed on all points mate apart from Wissa.

Brentford are gonna dig their heels in he'll be 30m+ quid and when we need a striker to cover the most, 26th of December to end of Jan he's away at Afcon.

What I'm hoping, and I tired to make it clear in my summary, was, that, the PIF need to wake up and get involved directly with deals. They accepted Mitchell's resignation ahead of the Transfer window when they should have requested that he leave in September.

It's on the ownership group, knowing full well that the CEO is on his way out due to a serious illness that the C-Suite is a ghost town.

The business side of the club is failing the football side of the club in a big way.

Not a moan mate, absolutely valid concerns.

Willock needs gone. We need at least 1 I'd say 2 CMFS. Amir Richardson and another from the Antonio Mango videos I shared recently. That 20-24 yr old range with a great potential and a major point to prove. They is a boat load of them across Europe for the 20-25m quid range.

Trafford is gonna go down to the wire. If Ederson goes then he's off to City, if he stays Trafford becomes available. If he's not with the Burnley squad it appears to be a matter of time until that one is sorted out. If not we need to go and get the lad from Lille, no time wasting. We simply can not go into another season with just Pope and Dubz. Great servants both but in Eddie's commented before that improving the GK 2-3% improves the team 15-20% or something like that.

CB the pace of a fitter Celtic exposed Schar. In the 2nd half Lascelles looked like a man who hasn't played football for nearly 18 months,.

          That can't be it!

I will repeat for the hard of hearing. Alexander Isak is not for sale this summer. Not to Liverpool. Not to Saudi Arabia. Not to anyone. No amount of fake news, fraudulent in the know chancers or selective quote using aggregator accounts will alter that stance from Newcastle

Yeah, obviously Wissa wpuld not be a peak satisfaction purchase, however he is better than noone. Not a mission is Isak and Osula going to carry us on their own all season. Wissa is proven in the PL and cheap but not my ideal choice make no mistake. Wissa to replace Wilson and one of the other remaining strikers you mention woulld be preferable.

Fk it I'd rather they met the Frankfurt price for HE. Buy cheap, buy twice and all that.

Great points and pretty aimiably said actually.

The no 9 cul de sac needs left for now and at least a CB, GK and MF too possibly needs to be wrapped up soon - personally I don't think MF is an urgent concern now but certainly we need a JL back up at some stage.

The sands aren't running out yet but fk me, we need one or two of these in in the next 2 weeks to give EH a chance pre season.

Theres also the optics for the team and future signings. It just doesn't look good to have so many players saying no. Go for realistic targets or pay market rates. Its simple.

Wissa is a great striker. He scored the most non-penalty goals last season 19. Not doubting his quality. It's availability.

The lad isn't gonna be available for 12 matches of the season in all competitions. That's the issue for me.

We need to make sure that the signings we make are gonna be sustainable.

Newcastle United's luck. We have no issues up to Christmas, with injuries, Wissa goes to AFCON and Isak goes down with his groin, we don't have a striker for 12 games. Season over.

I know anyone can get injured but knowing full well a player isn't going to be at the club just doesn't make sense.

Not to mention Brentford's reluctancy to sell after losing Bummo. So it could well turn into a Guehi situation.

I've seen a laughable Julian Alvarez link... That's not gonna happen. Would be mint, like!

Great post Rag and Zip with the counter.

THink you have both summed up the positive and negative brilliantly.

I still think with 6 weeks of transfer window left we will make signings and they will be ones that improve us.

But it has been fairly gutting seeing PSR work exactly as it is meant to
