Reports saying that Paul Mitchell said there was no need to give him a new contract because he?s 3 years left in his contract.Originally posted by OwdBillCook View PostI still don't understand the timing of this. Perhaps I'm just old and slow. Actually, no perhaps there, it's a nailed on certainty.
But why now? Why not earlier in the transfer window which might have sparked a drawn-out a bidding war??
I believe Isak intended to stay until Liverpool cane in for him. His agent convinced him to move. Imho

If IÂ’m being honest with myself, agree Isak can get f**ked, we sell him for as much as we can getÂ… but itÂ’s not necessarily this summer if we canÂ’t get 150m for him.
ThereÂ’s a World Cup next summer, and with Gyokeres moving to Arsenal heÂ’s going to be in a position to prove himself in an outfit that will finish in the Top 4Â… Isak has to prove he is as good, if not better.
That means he needs to perform for his own reasons, even if itÂ’s not for the clubs sake and even if his heart is elsewhere, his head will be ruling that.
That should mean his value is maintained.
Truth is we arenÂ’t yet ready to compete for the title, to compete for a CL space maybe, but we need more squad depth to do so.
In terms of our transfers so far, yes it is disappointing but we are not sitting at the top table when it comes to players looking at us. Yes we have CL this season coming, but I would say we need a track record of consecutive CL qualification before we can seriously believe players will look at us in anywhere near the same light as Liverpool or Arsenal or even Chelsea who are throwing money at their squad like no one else can.
ItÂ’s not all doom and gloom, the clubs ahead of us have mostly done their business so there is less competition for players we might go in for.
IÂ’d rather sell Isak now, but it has to be soon or we donÂ’t agree to any deal.
Bring in at least 1 striker ASAP, personally IÂ’d want to bring in Wissa, he will be cheaper than Sesko and we need other improvements (RCB and GK) tooÂ… but if Isak were to go then be ready to move for Sesko and not f**k about with prices, offer our best and last from the off.
If Isak wants to go to Liverpool IÂ’d seriously consider 110m + Elliot, then bring in Sesko and another midfielder to back up Big Joe.
I think that gives us a much more balanced squad, with depth all over the pitch, sell Pope or Dubs, Vlachidimos and Willock to help with the finances so we have some wriggle room in Jan and he left with
GK/Pope or Dubs
Tino/Tripps
Schar/RCB
Botman/Burn
Hall/Targett
Bruno/Elliot
Tonali/Miley
Big Joe/Box to Box Powerhouse
Elanga/Murphy
Sesko/Wissa
Gordon/Barnes
Osula
Krafth
Ashby
A. Murphy
Harrison
Neave
On balance IÂ’d rather sell Isak now, not to Liverpool if at all possible, but the amount of times he had a groin or thigh strain I would rather have the depth of squad handle will help with and move on a player who wants to be elsewhere.

Aye, those are the noises coming out.
Be interesting to see how quickly this thigh 'injury' clears up.
Fuck him...but we need to hope Liverpool are prepared to pay what he's worth or give us a player plus cash. 120 mil plus Elliot, who would be an upgrade on Longstaff....two birds, one stone.

Well, exactly. There's definitely a suggestion that their interest has turned his head and everybody and their dog knows Liverpool are interested.Originally posted by Guybrush View PostIf Liverpool don?t match the Saudi offer, he doesn?t go? we shouldn?t miss out on our pay day either!
Liverpool need to be punished for tapping him up
But, in the same way the rules have been made to favour the likes of Liverpool, the rules about tapping up won't apply to them. Plus, their friendly media buddies have done the tapping up for them-most notably Sky, Talksh!te and Fabrizio Romano so they're probably in the clear anyway. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Eddie has spoken out and said that this transfer is out of his hands. I think that he'd be more willing to sell than PIF so this saga might drag on. The other side is that we've been disasterously unsuccessful at bringing in players this window. We need to buy at least 4, maybe 5 at this point, without dealing with the Isak stuff.

With Sheikh Yasir coming to town, there is no way we'll be doing Liverpool any favours. There will be no 'deal' or structured payments.Originally posted by Guybrush View PostIf Liverpool don?t match the Saudi offer, he doesn?t go? we shouldn?t miss out on our pay day either!
Liverpool need to be punished for tapping him up
Liverpool have not made a bid yet. Despite clearly knowing the player is interested.
Where is the bid?
It's not coming. Why? Liverpool don't have the money. They aren't Chelsea. They aren't big spenders. Never have been.
Sold Torres, Sold Suarez, Sold Courtinho to finance their rebuilds.
They can't afford Isak. They need to sell 2 or 3 players, including Nunez, who, no one wants at all, zero interest.
No way is Sheikh Yasir or the club going sit by the phone like a love sick ****age girl for Liverpool to scrap the money together and close the deal on the last day of the season.
Only way that happens is if, we've signed a Sesko & another striker. Plus the 3 or 4 other players we need to get in.
We might be in a state of Chaos but we're not the Ashley regime.
Things are not that bad.

Agree, Raga, things aren't even remotely comparable.
However...if Liverpool don't make a bid, then we're stuck with a player everyone knows doesn't want to be here. And, let's be brutally honest, he isn't a 'bust a gut' type of player at the best of times. We'll hear all the usual platitudes but I'm not sure what type of player we'll have on our hands for the year we have him.
