I get the theory...but Man City are too good to invite on...
Agreed. Need Elanga to provide an outlet.

Fantastic win real grit shown now lets just hope this is the springboard we needed to get our league campaign up and running.

I was about to post the same.
Still, a massive win and great heart to respond to the equalizer. Cant wait to watch the recorded game later tonight.

              Absolutely!!
That could - should - change our season.
Sounded like a huge difference having proper full backs.
Plus, we always seem to raise our game when playing the top teams.

              Phew!!!
              What an incredibly important win!

Well we won it and not only won it but deserved to beat one of the best teams in Europe, and with a little bit of luck that couls have been a trouncing as they were very rarely on top of us playing and running their game.

                We did all of that

Be interesting to see if Burn comes straight back into the starting 11 for Everton.

                    He shouldn't.

It should be the winning team stays together.

We look so much better with Tino and Hall on the flanks, much more dynamic.

I agree 100% you dont change a winning team.

Although having said that, I don't mind if we make some rotational changes for Marseille game

Can't run our starting 11 into the ground completely.

Guess also, Tino and Hall are coming back from injury and if we play them continously the whole way through we could damage their come back.

I'd be surprised to see them both start against Marseille. Agree, Jammy, they'll be knackered and more likely to be injured.

Yeah indeed. The sooner the pair of them are back up to full fitness the better. The difference is clear.

So far in the UCL the lads have played well and secured good wins, solid victories.

It's a different style of play in Europe, a lot less physical, more technical.

Olympique de Marseille are 2nd in the French league...

Across all competitions their last 8, 4 losses, 3 wins, 1 draw. With 2 red cards.

In the Champions League they've won 1 lost 3.

At home they thrashed Ajax 4-0 then lost 0-1 Atalanta. Mixed bag

Does anyone what the chat between Pep and Bruno was at the final whistle?

Not sure what you mean by 'what the chat'

I'm guessing did anyone see/watch the chat?

Yeah it looked quite intense rather than chummy. As Captain I think Bruno was defending some of the actions by the referee as Pep looked like he was complaining rather than trying to get in his ear about signing for City.

I might be wrong but neither man, both, hyper competitive winners, wanted to lose that and it's a bitter pill for the City lot to come and lose to a team that has been out of form.

It was spicey after the final whistle in general. Joelinton was marshalled away by the meaty backroom staff lads as there was a lot of heated exchanges occurring.

The ref & VAR let a lot go on both sides. Foden's Pen shout was after the fact. The Ball had gone, the shot was taken so the rules state that it's not a pen. It is a foul though, anywhere else on the pitch. However, Fab didn't 'get away with one' as the biased commentary and punditry shills spouted during and post match.

Likewise the the other end, Ruben Diaz' clipped Lewis Hall's left leg going through which took him off balance and meant he couldn't stay on his feet and control the ball which ran out of touch.

The VAR decision was based on Hall not being 'in control of the ball' - yeah, it was a through ball to chase after. Of course a player running on to it wouldn't be in control of it, until he's caught up to it to take a touch, which he wasn't able to do because of Diaz' contact throwing him off balance.

Not given both ends, I accept that. Consistency of refereeing both soft, not given. That's fine. It was a tasty affair only a few cards the ref let the game flow.

No real bias to either side. It was a fair performance from the officials.
