  • Our passing

Been an issue for a long time now.

What's the problem, do we think? I've lost count of the number of times we give possession away incredibly cheaply under little or no pressure. There must be something about our style of play which means passes are hurried...either that or maybe they're not as good as we think they are, certainly in that aspect of the game?

Chief among the offenders are Joelinton and Murphy although Barnes, Schar, Burn and Gordon do their fair share. We used to be so calm under pressure and play ourselves quickly out of a press but that seems to have disappeared.

We don't play a possession-based game so when we do get the ball, we need to be better with it.

    It's frustrating.

    I don't know - it's ****ing annoying and bizarre.

To a degree, is it clubs have worked us out so we hurry more and therefore make mistakes.

Or have we changed style and try and attack more, meaning more **** ups. Whereas before we say and countered.

There is no question that the style of play is asking a lot of the players.

Are they simply tired after years of heavy metal gegenpressing?

I think Jammy's point that we are transitioning and trying to attack more could be part of the reason. In that case it's hard to blame Eddie because something new must be tried.

Didn't Potch and Klopp have issues with this style as well.

Every 2 or 3 seasons they basically needed to change their first team because they couldn't keep up any more with the style.

            Agree with jammyboy.

Also, we are rotating a lot more. Before the team has picked it self, now we have a bit more depth and Howe wants to take advantage of that. You cant play this many games, with the same 11.

I think thats a major part of this story.
