  • Eddie and Training

We know how much he values time on the training ground.

We also know he's not getting that time now, with games every few days and then international breaks where he loses large chunks of the squad.

Is this the main issue that is stopping Eddie really getting us where we need to go.

    Not having all that time.

Been thinking the same, but I’m looking at this more from an ‘Is Howe capable of preparing a team when he doesn’t have a week between games’ angle.

Last time we had CL games… we had all those injuries and blamed them for a drop off in performances… and they definitely didn’t help, but not so sure they explained it all looking back.

We want/need to be in Europe every season to catch up in terms of revenue and to keep our best/attract the best players… so whoever is in charge needs to be able to handle it.

I know it’s very simple to say, but if we had our own identity (because after we dropped the intensity/press game we don’t have one anymore) then we could train that for every team and just have to tweak, but we seem to be more about defensive setups/preventing other teams… and that had to change with every game.

Other theory… Woltemade has completely f**ked the balance in the team and no one knows how it is supposed to work anymore… but even that is a Howe/Manager issue to sort out, and he hasn’t.

The most damning indictment of today-and of how Eddie set us up-is that it was no different than a McClaren/Bruce/Pardew/Allardyce-level performance.

We played not to lose and got exactly what we deserved and that's on Eddie as much as it is the players.

That was my take, and it’s another case of past performances… Miley off/Schar on… I know that is a moment is time, but the attitude and approach is obvious.

The players seem to have picked it up… slow getting forward, no intensity, more worried about the opposition than confident in what we will do to them.

Obviously you can’t be 100% gung ho these days… though KK nearly won a title that way… but we are just a shadow of the team we were 3 seasons ago.

I do think part of that is a lack of confidence we can put the ball in the net, but tell Nick to stay up FFS so at least we have that threat… maybe Wissa will turn it around, but we have had a poor nearly half season punctuated by moments of mostly individual brilliance and intensity only against the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and City.

This guy is a bit abrasive at times but for me he hits the nail squarely on the head, this is a fair summing up of what is/has happened to our team. It's a good watch.

I agree with what Bryan says about the whole thing.

The players shouldn't need to be 'managed' to get up for a F**king Derby.

Burn - Geordie - Exempt from this conversation as he was the only one with any fight in him before the violent attack.

            The rest:
Miley - A Geordie - should have been putting the boot in.
Sandro & Thiaw - Milan Derby veterans
Bruno - Cote d'Azur Derbys (lille & Marseille)
            Gordon - Merseyside Derby
            Ramsdale - North London Derby
            Elanga - Manchester Derby
Hall - West London Derby (Fulham)

The players have all had experience of playing derbys. As football people, fans of the game, they care clearly know what is expected in a derby.

Alls I can say is that this needs to be rock bottom and there needs to be a positive response and for the team to not 'Bounce back' but cut this BS out and start being serious about getting the job done.
