  • Eddie - under threat?

This isn't an "Eddie Out" etc.

Just something in my head, particularly after tonights **** show.

Early today in his pre-match conference Eddie for the first time (I think) alluded to not being here to see the project through.

Now, that could be because it is a long-term project that will see us through plenty of managers.

Or, it could be the other, where things have been said about finishing positions etc.

Eddie has a lot of credit from everything he has done and I don't want him sacked but equally I'm not PIF who didn't buy us to sit in mid-table and who currently have a new CEO in the club who seems rather ruthless when it comes to under-performance.

January I think is going to be ***** to us.

**** it up and our season could be over by the end of that month really.

There'll be a lot more pressure on him, for sure.

...but we should stick with him. No doubt in my mind.

I don't want him to leave. He's hamstrung by PSR but he's also inflexible tactically.

I really doubt Eddie can find an effective plan B. We may have to wait for next season with no Europe so we can play with intensity as plan A week in week out.

            Agree with this.

But I do think questions will start to be asked at levels above him.

I think heÂ’s reached his limit.

IÂ’m f**king sick of the same old 65+ minutes changesÂ… today we were crying out for a cutting edge and he still waited.

He kept a useless Gordon on, at the expense of MurphyÂ… who was head and shoulders over Gordon.

I was hoping for Barnes and Wissa to replace Gordon and WissaÂ… how TF does Gordon keep getting pickedÂ… scored 2 pens all season, 1 assist is his contribution from open playÂ… and I think that is the case since Jan 25 if what I read is correct.

I donÂ’t have a name to replace Howe, but I think there has to be serious questions asked and the owners need to look at options.

The season seems like a write off. Maybe we can sneak a cup final or europa/conference but going on this we don't deserve it. Just want a clean slate and next season at this point.

I dont want to replace him. But its doing my head in that hes doing the same thing game after game - expecting another outcome.

If we get draged into a relegation fight this season, he will need a good start to next season. If we survive a relegation fight and he starts the next season like this, I would look for possible replacements.

Thats how I look at it.

Mourinho Is that what you want? Because that?s what we?ll end up with if we are not careful.

Is Eddie Howe the right manger to take us to the next level? I don?t know but the club is not going to the next level yet, until we can buy players and pay them 300k a week we are not at that level.

Eddie is a punching above his weight manger, I think better to let Eddie and the Director of football build a new team rather than change the manager is probably the way to go here. Summer transfer was a disaster, maybe we can do better in the next 2 widows

i said a few weeks ago that i thought things were starting to turn on Eddie.

Since then, we had a lucky win against Fulham and threw away a 2 goal lead to Chelsea and now this at Manure.

I'm still on the fence about the manager but i believe his own stubbornness/arrogance will be his downfall.

We have seen 45 minutes of intensity all season, we have no plan B and the tactics have become stale.

The players performances have dropped off a cliff and yet he picks the same ones.

This is just fuelling the stale performances because they dont get dropped.

Gordon needs to be sold, he has turned up for 1 game in over a year and STILL gets in ahead

of Barnes, who has been in good form and scoring goals.

Tonali has nosedived, big Joe too.

Burn, Schar, Tripps, Krafth, Lascelles are all on the decline age wise and need replacing.

I dont get why he is so reluctant to play Wissa and Nick together and develop tactically.

I think the writing is already on the wall, he will be gone in the summer if we dont get Europe.

I also think Tino and Tonali are already wanting a summer move.

A huge clearout is on the cards and it will start with the manager,

A couple of things that Eddie has said recently have stuck in my mind.
After the derby disaster, when Bruno said we were "a mess", Eddie publicly called him out, saying we weren't a mess but were very well organised, pretty much that we were let down by the players. It surprised me that he came across as prickly about it . Seemed to me he was publicly defending himself and publicly blaming the players, which started a few alarm bells jingling, at least a tiny bit.
Then a couple of days ago he seemed to criticise the owners by saying that off-the-field progress was in limbo and that the club needed to show ambition in a clear and strong way. Obviously he's pretty spot-on - but, again, to say this in a public statement certainly made me raise my eyebrows.
                        Maybe nothing, but...........

Had some time today. Mango makes some good points.

George Caulkin's take on the situation is always something I respect. Again, I have do agree with the bigger picture.

                            Aye, some interesting stuff there.
At the moment, I'm more inclined towards George's take than Mango's.
But I'm definitely wavering a bit!!

Things have certainly gone stale this season and the season could be over next month lose to Man City and Bournemouth in the cups.
