According to Fabrizio Romano C?diz have agreed a loan deal to sign Antonio Cordero, after his Westerlo loan deal was cancelled.

I hope this is true and he starts actually playing.

This last 4 months, since he joinned them, he has played 7 times. Of those 7 times, he has played 83 minutes in total.

Really highly rate-youngster we got in the summer.

Rejected both Barca and Bayern to come here.

Pacey winger, with an eye for goal - I was really excited about us getting him as he's decent. Young (19, was 18 when we got him) but already had over 70 senior apperances in La Liga for Malaga.

Should have been a regular on the bench for us this season but yet again loan him out straight away another Minteh.

70 laliga games, should be on the bench.

Other teams play 16-17 olds with good results, why cant we do that?

            Good question.

It would be great to see him back in the squad. 2nd half of the season needs something.

The lad has to be in and around the squad next season.

Agreed he should have been on the bench.

I suspect and can't disagree with the reasoning, that the club felt that with Barnes, Gordon, Murphy and Elanga ahead of him, it was better for him to go out and play regularly. . . except that hasn't happened.

I would have kept him here for 2nd part of season.

Never a truer saying, "If you're good enough you're old enough." Just look at Miley.

Hes the youngster I was most excited about too. Surely if hes just going to train and not play then its better to do that with us?
I think we need tighter loan contracts.

                    Agreed.

This is where we fall down - I know it's not soley on Shola but I think he's one I would move onto a different role within the club.

Apperently we're netting ?1.8 million for his loan to Cadiz.

Not sure exactly what Shola's role is. 'Loan Manager' - I would assume he manages player out on loan, rather than the one who choses where the youngsters go on loan.

The challenge with Loans is if the loaning team sack the manager who wanted the player on loan it means the player is likely to be marginalised. Usually going down to a lower league team on the continent with less quality facilities and coaching. Without the experience of regular first team football against proper grown up pros, loans can be a complete waste of time.

It's difficult and certainly lends itself to the argument of the MCO (Multi-Club Ownership) model. Knowing that your feeder clubs are owned by the primary club ensures that the players development will be prioritised, the young talent will play and the loan will give the youngster the experience required for him to develop into the top player the Primary Club purchased.

At the very least as an asset, which is where football has devolved to in terms of viewing young men in the academy systems, appreciates in value and is likely to return a profit should his journey through the youth levels come to an end and he not be at the level good enough to make in at the Elite end of Premier League football.

So Cordero had his first game for Cadiz tonight.

Another group im in had someone watching the game and they said:

He came on at 64 minutes, clearly not at full fitness but was putting himself about and making hte most of his opportunities, reads the game well and had some good touches. Made himself avaliable for the ball, looked comfortable in possession and tracked back to support defensively

So he ends his loan there in a much better place than it started.

He's scored 3 goals in his last 3 games.

Played in all their games, not started but had decent time on pitch.

Hopefully he'll get a proper look at in pre-season.
