  • Either everyone is Rubbish or the Prem just Super Competitive

Thursdays results ended in 4 draws and 3 of the 4 0-0.

The 500m quid spending bin dippers failed to beat Leeds at Scamfield, only registering 4 shots on target in the 90 mins.

Man City drew against the Unwashed Puddle drinkers of Wearside failing. The Citizens, too, failed to score.

What is clearly apparent is that the 'lesser teams' the Mid-table/Lower Mid-Table teams have drastically improved in terms of recruitment and tactics.

The matches are far more boring than in previous years but that to be expected when the name of the game is to remain in the league. Not getting beat is far more important than winning.

Take a peak over the fence at any other fanbase, check out their Twitter (if you can stand it) or other socials. None of them are happy.

    - The Red filth was Scamarimjob fired
    - Chelsea fans are fuming at Maresca going but weren't happy with him either
    - The Car Twokers have been calling Slot a fraud since Sept and want him fired
    - Villa's early season results had the Brummies writing illiterate angry messages about binning Emre
    - Wolves, Burnley both want their manager gone and the owners to F off

    It's the whole league.

Newcastle United's inconsistency is not unique. It's lead to the closest competition in Premier League history.

Based on the past 4.5 seasons Eddie's teams always come good in the 2nd half of each season. Last year it looks bad, there were a lot of grumbling and moaning voices calling for his head. Then the cup win suddenly flipped those negative expectations to possibly over inflated expectations.

Only Arsenal are showing consistency for now. They will bottle it as usual. As it is, Their fans are crowing like they've already won the league. Watch the rage when City beat them to the title. Arteta will be in trouble in Summer if he doesn't win the league. The FA cup or League Cup won't save him.

Villa Fans have changed their tune for now. Earlier in the season they wanted their manager fired. Let's see how it all turns out.

What is the point I'm making?

Barring a few teams, everyone sh!te not just NUFC.

Keep the faith and with a little bit of luck and consistency the lads will achieve what they need to again this season.

If we go on a good run now, we will be among the top at the end of the season. That run needs to start now though - and with convincing style of play.

Yeah Hughie. Points mean prizes. Getting on a winning run would see the Toon rocket up the league such is the condensed nature of the table at present.

With the next 5 or 6 at home it's an advantage the team have to take.

Burnley was a dirty win, with a bit more grit and determination, grind out a few more wins and the performances should improve.

Mind, luck and Newcastle United go hand in hand with each other like...two people without hands.

            Yes indeed Topsterinho!

Better in the 2nd half of the season. Let's have faith that that trend continues this season.

              5points of 4th place.

              Mid-table is now 4th - 14th

              4 - Bindips - 34pts
              14 - Palace - 27pts

7 points cover 11 teams. All have proven inconsistent in that middle order, lots of drawn matches and disappointing losses across the lot. Time to grind!

The league is splitting, as it always does at this time of the year, into 3 mini leagues.

              League 1
Top 3 - Arsenal, City, Villa

              League 2
              Mid 11 - Pictured above

              League 3
Relegation 6 - Wolve (gone), Burnley, West Ham, Forest, Leeds, Bournemouth

The Cherry's in 15th are 4 points back from Glazner's Palace team. That group of teams are delighted to take a point from most games.
Wolve (gone), Burnley, West Ham - are the favourites to go down.
The other 3 will continue on like 3 bald men fighting over a comb.

Of the relegation 6 - 1 usually pulls away and it becomes a 5, early Feb doors after transfer window.

That's generally the trend Jam man.

As it stands it looks like Bournemouth will be the one to creep away from the dog fight and float away on a wooden door of salvation whilst the other 5 fight it out like bald men fighting over a comb.

Leeds look like they's also survive. Farke's change of formation seems to have done the trick, they are tough to beat and taking points of big teams. The lads will have to play well to get the win against them this evening.

After West Ham's home lose to Forest it looks like the bottom 3 has pretty much sorted itself since this thread was started.

That win has given Forest in 16th a 7 point gap over the Hammers in 17th.

We know from experience of 2 recent relegations in recent history when you're down there every point counts and it's about the dog fight. West Ham just don't appear to have the fighters in the squad. Manager bounces seem to be a thing of the past.

Of the 6, Bournemouth have the quality in the squad and decent manager.
                      Forest, likewise.
Dyche is a scrappy dog with decent players.
Farke looks like he's got some momentum.

A good win against Leeds, solid performance, 1-2 goals to nil, a 2nd clean sheet in a row would be brilliant, for the GD as well as the confidence.
