Have people seen the vile, disgusting abuse posted to him?

He shared it on his social media, some of the messages he'd been sent.

The fact that the racism part is probably some of the less horrendus stuff is shocking.

Whoever, these pathetic lowlifes are - I hope they are found and consequences given.

I won't post what was said here as you can find it all over the net but vile vile stuff.

This is the statment from the club:

We are disgusted by racist abuse received by Joe Willock on Instagram on Sunday evening.

Following our win over Crystal Palace, Joe received several direct messages from an Instagram account that included racial slurs and deeply disturbing threats of violence towards Joe and his family.

Sadly, Joe has faced this before. Each time, we have acted quickly to support him and that has been our immediate priority again.

We have swiftly reported this matter to the police and we will fully support any investigation to identify the person responsible and hold them accountable, wherever they are.

This can only happen with meaningful action from Meta, Instagram's owners. We urge Meta to give the police all the information they need to identify the perpetrator, and to do so quickly.

Removing content and applying message filters is not enough. Social media companies must do more to protect users and support the prosecution of those who seek to break the law on their platforms.

We stand firmly with Joe and anyone else who faces this kind of abuse.

I just saw the news. F**king disgusting.

This is where the police should be doing their job, not locking mothers for being appalled at little girls at a dance party getting stabbed by some radical psycho.

I feel sorry for Joe, he tired way too hard to put that ball right in the corner, desperate to score and prove his worth. Poor lad, then to suffer this kind of behaviour is appalling.

          Disgraceful!

Let's hope the incompetent authorities can track these scumbags down and prosecute them.

I have a feeling that some/most won't even be NUFC fans.

Wow, those messages are truly shocking. All the best to Joe - - he's struggled at times as a player, but when on form he's been a great player for us.

I haven?t seen what?s been said - I am a social media recluse. But it?s sounds awful for somebody to sit behind a keyboard and threaten someone?s family - and it?s right, the companies that give the platform for this to happen should be held responsible as they can stop it - or at least make it easier to identify these cretins rather than protect them.

Anyways, I see Willock as a player who excelled in a team managed by Steve Bruce - how many players can that 🤣.

Maybe he doesn?t suit Eddies style - or more like Eddies style doesn?t suit Willock.

Either way, there?s a baller in there - he just maybe needs a change of club to show it.

                Name and shame them.

You can bet it stops overnight at that point.

As far as Willock goes, I keep waiting for the lad to emerge as a top player. He just never seems to find the extra 5% to get himself over the crest of the hill. Very frustrating because I think its definately in the locker.

Maybe he just needs that extra mile on the treadmill, that extra set of reps in the gym, an extra 10 minutes a day meditation and visualing himself finishing and passing, that extra bowl of pasta, some more belief..

                Dunno, but its there.

I don't see how any of them can be.

To speak about your own player like that.
