I see that due to Schar's injury any potential loan move for Murphy has been cancelled.

I think that this is good for a few reasons:

One, it gives him the chance to challenge.

Two, it lets us/club see if he's good enough to stay. If not, then we sell in the summer and we should get a reasonable fee for him.

Three, it shows that we give our youth a chance if they are ready.

Four, Eddie must have some faith in him to not go for another defender to replace Schar - which we must have been considering in summer anyway. Which means we have more money for any other potential deals.

So, we wont be signing any CB then?
It leaves us with Botman - Thiaw until BDB is back with no rotation.

Apart from PL, we have 2 CL fixtures (probably 2-4 more in February-March), 2 semis in Carabao and FA cup if we get through today.

If Botman gets a knock (god forbid any injury) we are paper thin at the back.
If only one could sign players mid-season?

I suppose Miley showing he can fill in there has made them step back from any deals.
