    Seems very sensible to me.
I like that idea but I guess the flaw is it means that the smaller teams, often newly promoted that set up to grind a 0-0 draw would be buggered.

Auld Bill's point is an interesting one and would change the entire ethos of the game. Defending would be an after thought.

However, I like the idea of incentivising attacking and goal scoring. Back in the old days before IFAB became the corrupt institution infested with morons we know and despise today, offsides, for example use to be clear.

Players who were level with the defend were 'on-side' and the advantage went to the attacker. Simple. Allowing the attacker to have the advantage promoted attacking play... What a novel thought!

Just like politics, the obsession by know it all, know nothing busy bodies to complicate things has brought us to a place where there are so many stupid rules in place now that refing matches is practically impossible. Coupled with the openness to 'interpretation' the whole this just recks of good intentions gone bad.

Make things so complicated that plausible deniability for corruption is as wide as the Suez Canal.

VAR at technological level, Semi-Auto off-sides etc is a great advance in the game. The issue as ever is the human operating it. We've gone from 1 mans' interpretation to a committee's interpretation.

Again, governance by committee = failure.

If only these clowns would respect the old mantra 'At some point everything will go wrong. So, keep it simple stupid!'
