  • Are we not signing anyone this window?

Ey. We're loaded! Are we not signing anyone this window? This squad needs some new energy and some fresh legs.

Not a lot of business being done this window.

The opportunity cost of signing players now is:

    Opportunity -

strengthening the squad, taking the load off the current players, deepen the squad, assist in competing of all 4 fronts, potential requalification for the Champions League and the revenue that generates.

    Cost -

"Panic Buy" Risk: The urgency of the mid-season window can lead to higher fees for players who may not ultimately fit the team's long-term strategy.

Reduced Future Budget: Spending in January reduces the available capital for the summer, when more quality, long-term options are available.

Tactical & Sporting Opportunity Costs (Integration & Availability)

Lack of Pre-Season: A key disadvantage is that new, winter-signed players cannot complete a pre-season with their new team, making it harder for them to learn systems and build chemistry.

Immediate Pressure: Players are expected to deliver instant results, which often leads to poor performance and reduced resale value if they fail to adapt quickly.

Cup-Tied Restrictions: While relaxed in some competitions, players may be ineligible for specific tournaments, reducing their utility in the immediate half-season.

Disruption: Mid-season signings can disrupt the existing team chemistry, which is generally settled by January

PSR/SCR is doing it's job. No one is spending. The excitement of the transfer window has been completely destroyed by the paid shill Romano & the Euro Cartel lead league implemented financial scams masquerading as financial safety security controls.

Sky and the other broadcasters are not gonna be happy. Their bumper Jan viewing figures are a thing of the past if this carries on.

Mind, we play our cards pretty close to our chest these days so I wouldn't rule it out.

Aye, the January window is not nearly as exciting as it used to be, for any fan of any club. Inflated prices or not, it's a chance to show that you're ambitious about the rest of the season.

The mistakes of signing a player that 'doesn't work out' are seriously punished for the likes of everyone out side the cartel.

Look at the pelters the likes of Wissa, Woltemade, Elanga and Ramsey are all getting when they don't perform?

Woltemade aside, everyone sings the praises for what he's done so far but they're expecting consistency of seasons Prem striker from a 23yr old who just landed from Germany.

Sections of the fanbase calling for the managers head because of new signings not hitting the ground running.

Yet at the same time the same people are screaming for the club and manager to go and invest huge sums in players in January with no guarantee of success.

All that being said. It's clear that the squad is weak in the full back areas and also with Fab going down at CB.

There have been links to decent young prospects on the continent. Getting the deals done is never easy.

Let's hope Ross Wilson can work some magic.

However, the club narrative is that this summer is going to be a big one in terms of signings and the main focus of huge investment with so many players out of contract.

Eddie Howe: Dan Burn's return to the Newcastle squad will seem like a new transfer thats ok then no need to sign anyone now

“Reports” that we are interested in Brazilian winger Rayan age 19. Don’t get excited as Bournemouth are also interested and have bid ?27 million. That’s us screwed then!

Yep I've shared two or three reports in the 'January' thread.

All the players we've been linked to, that make sense (the ones in the right age range and the realistic cost/value) are in the January thread dude.

Aye - we've put a lot of work in scouting and building networks in Brazil, so wouldn't surprise me to some some moves there.

Sounds like Pardew, we just get a month of being told "we are thinking about, thinking about taking interest in"

Looks like Bournemouth are leading the charge. Bit miffed about this one but what to do.

Plenty more Brazilian striker Wonderkids in the favela!
