  • Qarabağ FK

Since we don't seem to have a thread

We will play Qarabağ FK as our play off - Mid Feb.

Away at their ground first - it's a plastic pitch.

    Home for 2nd leg.

Shame it wasn't Monaco but hey ho. Decent chance of progressing.

Gerrard commented after the PSG match was that he'd take the longer flight to play against a lesser team.

I guess it could see Eddie rotate the team for that match away in Azerbaijan.

Either way it's two more games but this is what the club, management, players, fans all want. The Champions League. Progressing in the big competitions.

We get ?11 million just for playing this round.

Then another ?10 million if we progress to play in the next round.

Yeah it's the same money in each round as each round of the league phase but shared between the 32 teams.

Win the round of 16 game and the same amount is split between the 16 teams left in the Quarter final. (hence why Villa's jumped up the ranks in the Deloitte Rich List.

The 2024/25 season set another new record, with the top 20 Money League clubs generating over €12 billion in revenue for the first time.

                2024
                Club - Aston Villa
                Rank - 21
                Revenue - 250.5(€m)

                2025
                Club - Aston Villa
                Rank - 14
                Revenue - 450(€m)

                That's a +€140m increase in 1 season.

Over the same period NUFC remain 17th but grew revenue (without European Football) from €278.8m - €398.4m. Progress is slower but steady.

Betting Chelsea or Barcelona in the round of 16 will see a similar +€140m in next seasons accounts.

Well they better had do as they've got to buy 7 quality players in the summer.
