  • Why Isak is no loss

Just look at the facts of this saga. Most people inside and out of the game are talking about Isak, and it's being stated that he's amongst the best in the world.

Just look back to where he was and what he did before arriving here. No one but no one had even heard of him.

It was that transfer and E.H.'s coaching which has made him and developed him.

There must be dozens of gems out there undiscovered, just waiting to be picked up by shrewd watchers of the game, with as much or more potential as that greedy, ungrateful money grabber.

Our scouts unearthed him and It's the same old story, the lazy cartel clubs just wait and see what the real clubs unearth then just hoy contracts and big wages at them to lure them away instead of developing their own.

The problem we have now, though, is that we're having to do our search in the full glare of all the media scrutiny.

Largely, this is down to Ball-sak because of the timing of his leaks but also, in part, to our own incompetent recruitment strategy.

Added to which, every one thinks we have Isak's north of 130/140 million to play with.

This situation has made money even tighter than it was before.

I think we are being done over slightly with the Thiaw fee too but will have to live with it at this stage. A premium has been applied to the top 6 trsnsfers for years.....and we are that now.

        Pure potential this lad.

        And if EH likes him...

Sorry, but Isak will be a big loss… his behaviour aside there is no getting away from the fact he’s probably developed into what if the most complete striker since Henry.

That said, if we get Wissa and another striker I’ll be happy to make the swap. Wissa scored 18 goals with 0… yes… ZERO… penalties last season. Another striker who is good, and able to be polished, gives us the kind of back up we haven’t had since the 22/23 season when Wilson was mostly fit and we could rotate.

Thing is… no one can polish a turd… so Wissa is a ready made replacement, but we need to box clever with the second striker… and it’s going to be a bit of a punt.. makes me think the talk of Strand Larson might not be too bad an idea given where we are.

Downside of Isak is he is a bit fragile, maybe if he is rotating with Ekitike he’ll not be so much at injury risk… but I think we’ll have a better squad and more options without him, but with him fully fit he’s a player nearly every team in Europe would benefit from having in their first 11
