  • Does Eddie have 7 games to save his Newcastle career?

I have read the reports from the latest interview our CEO has had regarding Eddie's future.

Last month he said, Eddie is our man and we back him blah blah blah

yesterday he would not comment on his long term future and instead said

Asked about Howe's future, Hopkinson said: "I don't have a stance on his future. What I can tell you is that the derby loss hurt. We take it seriously. There's nothing within us that thinks 'well, it's just three points and on we go'. I expect to have a great run to the end of the season here and we'll talk about the future when it's time.

"Right now, we're focused on this season's competition."
Pressed further as to whether he was leaving Howe's future open, he added:
"I would not frame it that way. We are not looking to make a change at the moment. We are not having those conversations.

"We are still in the midst of the season. Right now we are focused on the seven matches we have remaining and not distracting ourselves with speculation about what we may or may not do in the summer.

"Right now, all of us have only got so much bandwidth and we are focused on this season and finishing strongly."

to me it sounds like there have been discussions behind the scenes from the top brass over changing the manager.
Personally, if we fail to get Europe, i think he's gone

Put it this way: after Hopkinson presented his ambitious plans for the future success of the team, and if we arent on track, he isnt going to hold his hands up and say - sorry, folks, I got it wrong. Instead hell be looking for someone to blame.

Clearly this season has been a disappointment.

7 games for the manager and the squad to go out with some dignity and respect.

The Europa league is still very achievable and the Champions League is not out of reach, just needs a hell of a lot of results go our way whilst the lads would have to win all 7 taking the maximum 21 points.

I can't see it being a flawless 7 game winning run but it's not all doom and gloom, this group of players have to look at themselves and respect the fans undying support.

Eddie needs to get the best out of them.

He's always had my total support but as I've said this is a results based business, don't get the results, don't stay in the business. Simple.

I think HOWE is on the way out! Our performances have been abysmal, and the team selections for most of the year have also left a lot to be desired. I don't think HOWE has high aspirations when it comes to signing players of any REAL quality, and I'm getting tired of hearing about the underwhelming crap that Howe would like to sign, such as that donkey at Tottenham.

Howe's aspirational signings he was directly responsible for identifying & signing:
            La Liga winner Trippier
            Ligue 1 winner Botman
            Seria A winner Tonali
            Seria A winner Thiaw

Current England players identified and signed as aspirational potential for the future
            Tino Livramento & Lewis Hall

Then England's No.2 Goal Keeper - Nick Pope

7 player of various stages of their career with massive upside potential to the team that has taken the club to cup glory & 2 Champions League runs.

What precisely ISN'T aspirational about those signings dude?

Combined with 2 Swedish internationals, 1 of the 2 went on to finish 2nd in the goal scoring list last season & who went on to be the clubs record money earning transfer making the club over 120m quid.

The other put up 11 goals and 20 assists in the Premier League for a Forest team with Chris Wood playing as No.9.

The aspirational replacing signing for the injury prone Cal Wilson, a lad who banged in 19 Premier league goal the season before he join NUFC & until he pulled on a B&W shirt was never injured.

Aspirations signings Eddie pushed hard for but was Guzumpt by Cartel clubs offering double the wages.

            Ekitike.
            Mbuemo.
            Joao Pedro.
            Arda Güler.
            Sekso.
            Szoboszlai.

All players playing Champions League football on the regz apart from Mbuemo but it's looking likely he will be there next season.

Let me translate this into Aussie - "yeah, nah, yeah, nah, yeah, nah, yeah, nah mate Howe knows F**k all c**t."

            Hindsight is 20/20.

The pissing and moaning from sections of the fanbase about the current season's under performance is simply because Eddie Howe's brilliance has deluded fans think they are a top 4 team well ahead of progress.

The only reason people are whining about not being in the UCL places or competing for trophies this season is because Eddie is the man who took the club up to those hights.

The Wage bill is 8th in the Prem. Any retard knows that a clubs wage spend = Premier League finishing position.

Every single season Eddie's teams have over achieved. When people don't understand or do understand the restrictions the club face

What has media speculation got to do with the Manager of Newcastle United?

The Agent of the donkey, and for that matter, the entirety of the Spurs team have been working over time with their pals in the press to drum up interest in their players ahead of their relegation and exodus from the signing ship like the rats they are.

Eddie Howe's only real comments about recruitment are that the club needs to lower the average age of the squad and that the club are looking to acquire talented players with future potential, examples of this that have been developed by the manager are Tino & Hall. Neither were anywhere near the England team before coming to NUFC now they are looking like being Tuchel's first choice fullbacks.

Again Howe proving he has no aspirations and knows nothing about player development, what a d!ck!

            Ross Wilson comments on recruitment:

"outlined a recruitment strategy focused on global market value, strategic alignment, and long-term squad planning. "

            Core Recruitment Pillars
Targeting Value Outside the Premier League: Wilson emphasizes that Newcastle will likely find better value in international markets than within the Premier League.
Strategic Alignment: Any mid-season or short-term signings must strictly align with the broader summer recruitment and squad goals.
Sustainable Spending: While funds are available for investment, Wilson has stated the club will be "creative" and "opportunistic" rather than repeating the high-net-spend levels of previous windows.
Dual-Scenario Planning: The club is currently preparing for two distinct summer 2026 strategies: one for qualifying for European competition and another if they do not, ensuring they are ready for any regulatory or competitive outcome.

            Squad Management & Retention
Internal Focus: A key part of the current plan is securing the future of existing stars. Wilson is actively leading contract extension negotiations for key defenders Tino Livramento and Sven Botman.
Collaborative Leadership: Wilson operates in a "trust-based" partnership with head coach Eddie Howe and CEO David Hopkinson, aiming for a unified approach to moving the club forward.

            Academy & Structure Improvements
Academy Revamp: Following an assessment, Wilson is implementing a major investment in the academy to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). This includes hiring new recruitment analysts and a dedicated scout for the London area to find top young prospects.
Expanded Network: The club is actively expanding its global recruitment network to identify "market-value" targets early.

So in summary, Eddie Howe has done brilliantly in the most part.

This season has been disappointing. The recruitment in the summer wasn't structured that is not on the manager. The former CEO and the DoF screwed Howe and the club.

The Manager deserves the opportunity to have a stable structure in place in the boardroom, which, in Wilson & Hopkinson he now has.

Wilson does his job in the summer, signs the 6-8 players needed. Howe gets the summer pre-season to mould the squad and first team to attack the new season.

            Then it's sink or swim.

A man who has brought the highest of highs to Newcastle United in more than a life time deserves that

He doesn't deserve the whining of the likes of clowns like Brian the former deep sea diver or any of the other armchair pundits or ex-pros who simply hate Newcastle United.

However, some people just don't like to be happy and just love being miserable, negative victims.

Personally, I prefer to look for the positives and support things with optimism.

I'm not telling anyone how to live their life, it's up to you, I guess!

Brentford have the second LOWEST wage bill in the Prem, only Burnley pay less, yet they are sitting 7th this season, Bournemouth and Brighton are way down there with wages too? If you are going to check Capology then don?t just use one data point that suits your argument and ignore the rest? any ?retard? knows that 😉

In the same vein you can?t point to the good signings as all Howe, then excuse the bad signings as ?him being screwed over?

Howe has done brilliantly when we don?t have Europe, yes the depth isn?t great but rotation is not playing the same players for 65 or so minutes every game then replacing some at that point in pretty much every game, yes Howe has had limited depth but he hasn?t used it well enough? not finding a way to use either of Wissa or Woltemade as a striker (and using Gordon) has hurt us badly.

Having a Plan B? or not in his case.

Howe deservedly got praise for doing well, he deserves criticism for when things don?t? it?s double standards to do otherwise? said it many times before? no manager is immune to criticism, and if people call that out they aren?t ?negative victims?, in the same way that people who bury their head in the sands about Howe?s faults aren?t ?cool-aid drinking happy clapping c**ts?

That all said, I still like Howe and would prefer he stays? and I?d even go so far as to say the best outcome for this season for his long terms success might be NO Europe next year, a very good transfer window (though the former would hinder the latter), and Howe uses all the training time next season to work on having more than a Plan A and better integrates the full squad so we aren?t reliant on the first 11 playing every game.

No manager always has his best players available, and if we want to progress we need to be able to balance Europe with domestic demand, and maybe being realistic about squad size and prioritising domestic demand (cups basically) would help too.

                  .
Yeah, this is where I'm at. Players have let Eddie down but he has to look at himself, too (which he does) and change his approach (or, rather, go back to what was working well).

Reading that interview, though, it sounds like they've made a decision but are just waiting to see if we can put a run together that gives them a reason to change it.

Had to have a few beers after reading your spray Rags !!!! . Yeah, I'm not happy with this season, and yes, you point out some good stats to back up what Howe has done, and done well. I'm dealing with this season, and it's pretty much been a stinker on the whole. Losing both times to bloody Sunderland was the last straw for me !!!!

I don't know who has fu(Ked things up in the transfer window, but whoever it is, needs to be replaced.

To be fair, I think the **** up in the transfer window was because nobody was there. . . hence why so spectacularly wrong.

So sadly, no one to get rid for it really.

A defeat to Bournemouth at home may be the turning point for quite a few.

The way we're playing, does anyone see where our next point is coming from? End of the season is going to see us a bit too close to 18th for comfort. And let's not do the 'but we're only 5 points off Europe' bollocks-we've been saying that all season and haven't once looked like pushing on.

Ironic-and sad-that Eddie arrived to take us out of that sort of situation yet, here we are...

I think if we lose and we lose as meekly as we have other games - sections of the crowd will turn. Against Palace their was confusion and some boos.

At St. James. . . I think it'll be felt a lot more.

I'd also note, Eddie has never beaten Bournmouth in the league at Newcastle.

I don’t think it’s fair to credit him when we have done well, and just blame players when we don’t… because while there have been a number of individual mistakes they have happened when we have played poorly in games anyway… similarly you can’t give him all the credit for good signings then excuse him when we have made poor choices… in-fact he was probably more involved this summer gone than any previous windows (not having a DoF) so arguably it’s another big question mark over him.

Bournemouth are turning up on the back of beating Arsenal away, so their tails will be up… how we setup and how we play will be the biggest factor in the crowds reaction even if we don’t get 3 points.

I’m a bit worried that we’ll see either Wissa or Woltemade thrown on to start, and if we lose he can point to criticism of not using them/integrating them… but when they have been sidelined/not played much at all, I don’t think putting them in a team performing poorly anyway justifies his past decisions.
