  • Quattara deal agreed

Brentford have agreed a deal with Bournemouth for Quattara, seemingly freeing up Wissa.

I rate Wissa highly, but got to be honest, not that comfortable going for any player that has downed tools… can see it happening, but doesn’t sit easy.

    I know what you mean.

To justify it he was promised a move if a UCL club came in for him.

The difference is the way the clubs have acted. We haven't tapped him. We spoke to Brentford and did it properly.

However, it's semantics really. This behaviour should not be rewarded. Sadly that's modern football.

I do agree there’s a few differences, length of contract left and this talk about a gentleman’s agreement after Toney was sold, we’ve contacted the club directly and aren’t messing about with the amount offered… but this ‘tools down’ from Wissa isn’t good, even if we end up benefitting when we really need to get a striker in.

I really rate Wissa, and with only a year left from Jan on his contract Brentford are likely gonna need to sell him sooner than later with all this going on, but I don’t like the way he’s gone about it… he could have told the club he is not signing a new contract ever and wants to leave, so the club should cash in on him (imo) but still be training and available.

In releation to the Quattara deal, once that was confirmed - Sky Bet removed Wissa from their transfer specials, which suggests they believe it is done 99% as well.
