I see that City have now said they are moving away from Tino due to the price that Newcastle have allegedly said it would cost.

Quite frankly this is Isak all over again - unsettle him - as we've seen in recent months and then say "actually no" to try and drive price down.

Tino has 2 years left on his contract, we need to sell him this window for top price if he's going to refuse to sign a new one. Equally we don't want to have our trousers pulled down and let him go really cheaply.

To be fair, we kind of want that. Don't want the SD competing with the manager for air time as face of club etc.

They should, they won't and even if they were you can guarentee those that do it, will have no direct link to the club in questions

We should have a good war chest, but the new Squad Cost Ratio is going to change how you coming transfer fee’s work… they won’t be up-front/all in the year of the transfer boosts, but spread in the same amortised way purchases are… which makes sense in a way but won’t allow us to get out of a big hole by selling many assets in the same financial year… but we’re not too bad off as it is so we should be okay.

That said, they’ll cover the costs of new players coming in, but we’ll still need to balance what we have against what we have coming in… 85% of all revenue while not in Europe and 70% of all revenue while in Europe… so I think until/if we see a new stadium and the revenue boost that will give AND some bigger sponsorship deals we’ll be buying and selling players for a few years to come, and improving that way.

I’m hoping that we’ll be moving from a predominantly Premier League experienced first port of call approach, to bringing in talent from around Europe and the rest of the world (like this new Ecuadorean lad who will join us the after next season (when he turns 18)), so we’ll get better value for money IF we buy the right players… more risk but less outlay… and sell high.

We need to get good at that now I reckon, and maybe for the next few years we’ll bring bringing players in on more modest wages on 5 year contracts and selling them within 3 years… before they get a new contract on higher wages with a few exceptions hopefully.

That’s probably another reason why Howe might go, he gets very attached to players, certain ones anyway, and we probably need someone (for a while at least) who can look at players as transactional pieces until a time we can support bigger wages sustainably.

Joking aside if Willock, Murphy and Burn are starting next season I feel things will get very toxic
