  • Have the PIF lost interest?

Could the Howe situation be an indicator that the PIF have indeed lost interest? When Howe got the job there was always the presumption that the PIF wanted a top elite manager a bigger name of a manager.

But now when they have an opportunity to move Howe on they are now inclined to keep him and now the club is back to the policy where we can only spend what we earn and have to sell players to buy players.

Must admit I've had the same thoughts lately.

Personally, I doubt if they have.
Until this season, I think they will have been very happy with Eddie indeed. Good morale at the club & with the fans. First trophy for ages. Champions league football twice. Given the financial constraints, who could have done better?
This season the wheels have come off, at least to some extent. They must now be weighing up whether Eddie is the right man to get things back on track, I'd have thought.
But I reckon that these are highly intelligent guys with a long-term objective. They are not your dodgy upstart get-rich-quick knee-jerk decision makers.

I think Eddie will be under scrutiny, but I'd be very surprised if they were going cool on the entire project. Although its possible that the bent financial restrictions might be seriously pissing them off, I suppose.

Be good to get Ragatino's take. Anyone know where he's gone BTW?

No I don't think they've lost interest at all.

There is a big meeting soon, all big wigs are over - they've book out some massive hotel complex. Something hall (begins with a W).

I think they've had to reposition due to the continued attacks on us as a club but if anything, I think that has made the more likely to want to continue.

To leave, would be to lose face, something culturally I don't think they'd be willing to do.

        Edit:

Also just seen this - which plays into what you're asking.

Newcastle United’s value has TRIPLED since the 2021 PIF/Staveley/Reuben takeover, with us now reportedly valued at OVER ?1bn!!
Despite the persistent exit rumours, the PIF is doubling down on their investment at Newcastle United, according to iNews. Here’s why:

Valuation Boom: Market experts estimate the club is now worth ?1bn+, significantly outstripping the total ?800m investment (including the initial ?305m fee).
️ Infrastructure: A massive new state-of-the-art training facility has just been signed off. ️
Growth Loop: The club is successfully scaling revenue, fueling higher transfer budgets and a stronger squad.
Unlike other PIF projects, Newcastle is operating on a virtuous cycle of growth, making it a key asset for the ownership group moving forward unlike money pits like LIV Golf.

          I've wondered as well.

Hopefully he's ok with all going on over in Middle East.

No, I don't think they have.

if anything, the new regulations make a new ground all the more likely because of the amount of money it'll generate.

And aye, Raga's a miss, tbh. Agree, Jammy-hope all's well with him.

I have lost interest this season 😆

My new toy is seeing Spurs in the relegation zone.

But, I do not think PIF have turned away, they will see this season as a disaster, and that is not a bad thing. I do not want them to think anything other than that.

And these financial constraints holding us back will mean they will need to invest in infrastructure if they want us to be able to compete.

The very rules that are designed to hold us back will mean our owners must invest - new stadium, new training ground, youth set up

All places they can spend their Rials 😆

Things have gone quiet a bit - but they may just have some noisy distractions on their doorstep.

It looks like Spurs or WHU for the drop now.
                  Mackems 0-5 Forest.

I still believe West Ham blew their chance. Spurs have Wolves next that will set them up for a little run

PIF have announced a four year strategy in which sports are hardly mentioned. Speculation is that ownership of the club - and other sports related assets - will go to private hands (members of PIF) or a private company (with the influence of PIF). Don?t know what that would do or change.

I saw that article, or similar - we're different to all their other sporting things though because of global reach of Prem.

                          Personally, I'm not that concerned.

Reports today that Amanda Staveley is behind a US consortium to try to buy us again. This is just more smoke but I believe within that world they know we are for sale. I?m 99% convinced that the PIF will sell and if they can?t sell we will be spending only what we can
                            generate.

Would actually love her to be involved again. Great communicator and genuinely seemed emotionally invested in us.
