Hopefully things will change for us in the new season but if it doesn't and it's the same old stuff when would you pull the plug on Eddie, how many losses will it take to convince the owners ?

.It's a nightmare scenario, really.
If he does start poorly and gets sacked, it's such a bad look for anyone thinking about becoming our next manager. Plus, if we get shot after the first few games, we're severely limiting our choice of manager.
We're not such a big pull that we could tempt a top manager who's just built/added to his squad at his current club to just up sticks and leave a handful of games into a new aseason.
Unfortunately, we probably need to do it now-and I mean unfortunately for Eddie if this happens and for us if it doesn't and we end up doing it after a few games.
If we keep him and it works out, then great. That's my preferred scenario. If we feel a change is needed, we need to act now so that we can attract a better calibre of manager who can bring in the players he wants.
Worst case is we lose the first few games and get shot in September or October. But, if we lose the first few or haven't shown any sign of changing our approach then absolutely we should let him go. We've gone backwards and can't have another season like this one.

Personally, I hope we return to the high press, full intensity approach that served us well in previous seasons.
I think our shift away was planned, due to the extra games and previous issues with fatigue and injuries, but it hasn?t worked. Work rate was what propelled average players to levels beyond their station and that has been exposed this season.
If we gamble on a pre-season of refining this season?s tactics and they backfire, i think Eddie will be toast by Christmas. I?m still in the ?Eddie In? camp.

I'm still Eddie in, too, but the writing's on the wall, I fear. He absolutely needs to get the intensity back but, more than that, he needs to stop having his favourites and thinking that some of them are the same player they were three years ago.

The big thing for me is to refresh the squad early doors.
Then, hopefully, we can stop playing players out of position, and get some some real focus and grit back into the team.
My view is that Eddie will need mental time out to take a deep breath and a re-think. For the latter part of this season I reckon he was under huge pressure. Not least from himself. It looked to me as though he dug in, doubled down, and tried to pretend that, OK his approach wasn't working - but it was a blip that would right itself.
Best thing he could do now?
Go on a bender with Pep Guardiola. Re-think the whole scenario. Think outwards not inwards.
I still think he feels beleaguered. And why not. I can't really imagine the huge, huge mental pressure that must come with being the manager of a top-flight football club. It's so much more than anything I've ever done - and I have shouldered some responsibilty. Jeez, I'd totally crumble in weeks against that degree of expectation and scrutiny.
I suspect that Eddie is at a crossroads here. He can take some mental time-out. Re-assess the situation, admit (not least to himself) that the latter part of this season was a disaster, and put together a coherent strategy to turn the ship around. I'm sure he can do it. He's young enough, intelligent enough, to grasp this nettle and turn it into a flowering garden, I do believe that he has the ability to become the next Fergie or Guardiola.
Will he? I really hope so. At the moment, I doubt it I'm afraid. He seems to be very set in his ways. And in a high-pressure situation, it can't be easy to change your approach.
My worry is that, in the current situation - having to dig the team out of a hole, and quickly - then Eddie won't have the luxury of time to properly reflect.
I guess my big worry is that he may well be the next Fergie, Wenger, Guardiola, whatever. But not with us.

Keep Eddie.
There are still some concerns over how he's handled the pressure and bad results the past six months or so, but a fresh squad and a season without Europe will stand him in good stead in terms of rebuilding the team - and importantly bringing back the high intensity and attitude of our Howe hey-days.
But yeah, he obviously does need to give his head a shake and get back to what it's all about; winning football matches and getting consistent performances from the players.

i dont believe there are any positives from this season at all.
the football on display has been dreadful all season and the majority of last season.
I have been on the fence regarding Eddie since the turn of the year but i am now well and truly
in the "Eddie out camp"
the club have no football people running the show, they are just execs that can turn a profit.
The club have regressed and made false promises to the players that they are losing faith in the project
If reports are to be believed, Gordon wants away, so too Tino, Sandro, Hall, Barnes, Nick
rumours of being a lot of discontent behind the scenes are never started without an element of truth.
17 defeats, 2 derby losses would have seen any other manager gone. Elite clubs with elite mentality
would not have put up with this. Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Man City
would have all pulled the trigger.
Are we really going to trust Eddie with another summer of rebuild when he scouted Elanga for 2 years
and spaffed 55m on him, another 50m on Wissa

We still havent seen Wissa, Woltemade or Elanga integrated into the team properly.
Eddie is notorious for taking a long time to do that, too long really, in comparison to other managers and if we see the same again then there is just going to be an argument up until Xmas that he needs time to bed new players in.
I just hope we wont chase the same old prem proven and we can wrap up business early in the window instead of later then if Eddie remains in charge he has a full pre-season.
Ideal scenario would be the scouts have identified a bunch of young(ish) players, who havent yet made full international status so will be free to join in pre-season from day 1.
Keeper is the likely exception to that, assuming we go for a new No 1 but I can see Eddie sticking with Pope 🤦*♂️

I think the suggestion is we're going to stick with Pope as Number 1 and get a younger 'keeper who can 'challenge' him.
As for last Summer's signings, I've got to disagree about being given until Christmas, Ian. Eddie's had a year to work with them even allowing for Wissa's injury. He bought badly, I'm afraid, he doesn't know how to use them and I don't see much changing. I'd be happy to cut our losses on all 3.
