  • Gordon on his depature

On his departure, Gordon said: "I owe this club a lot because, when I arrived, I was quite lost both in life and in football. The club has given me a sense of belonging and a sense of identity. It's allowed me to do what I always thought I could do. It's put me on the biggest stage and allowed me to perform for the shirt.

"Since coming to the club, I feel I've improved a lot on the pitch but this club has played a big part in the person I've become over the last three-and-a-half years.

"It was really important for me to leave this place in a good way because I've loved every single minute of being a part of Newcastle United. This is an incredible club and one that I'll never forget. I'll be a fan for the rest of my life."

    From the Newcastle website.

That is the way to go out.

Nice to see the acknowledgements that the club have done a lot for him and interesting the way he says "important for me to leave this place in a good way" - that screams of him/club not wanting an Isak sitauation to be percived.

Yep, great to see, I have always liked the lad though I do know he is not everyone's cup of tea. And he learnt Spanish from his Geordie physio.

He didn?t learn Spanish overnight, sack the physio - he?s clearly been tapping Gordon up for Barca for some time 😆

Nah - good luck to him, there is a player in there, we didn?t see enough of it at times, but luckily saw enough to bleed 70million+ out of Barca 😆

I reckon he?ll do well over there, 4 games a season where he HAS to turn up, the rest will be a walkover - should suit his work ethic down to the ground.

Thing is though - whilst he doesn't have to turn up.

The quality lower down is less, so he may actually rack more goals up for them.

I hope he's a huge success for them. Yes, he had a poor season but so did everybody else to a greater or lesser degree.

I wish him nothing but the best.

I didn?t see any quotes on him giving Eddie Howe a mention. That?s interesting I think.

Sorry, as a player I found him very mediocre, I wasn't bothered if he stayed or left. At least we got some good coin for him which hopefully will be well spent on a replacement.

He mentioned the manager I thought?

                Just not by name.

I don't wish him any bad luck or anything, but to me he's a footnote in our history.

I don't like he way he acted out and obviously didn't give it his all when he wanted his various moves away. Too long and far between the good performances to have left any serious mark, but it'll be interesting to follow him and if he improves his goal/assist ratio, he's welcome back.

He's said some nice things about the club and the fans which will stand him in good stead, so fair play. I personally don't really buy it all that much, but at this point, sure, a move away is best for everyone. And what a deal we're getting so all good!

Best wishes from me. Hes given us some great memories and been one of our better players over the years and also broke into the England set up while playing for us. Seems a decent lad too - plenty of charity work.
                    Good luck to him.
