  • Anderson, PSR you say?

The Anderson transfer has always bugged the shyte out of me, they said we had to do it for PSR I could never get my head around the transfer I think Howe didn?t fancy him. Now Man City bid ?121m for him makes the PSR excuse look even more ludicrous.

We all knew from when this lad was a kid he was to be great, he?s been talked about around the club for years and years.

If this happened on Mike Ashley?s watch they?re would be uproar.

Yes of course. The difference is that under this ownership want to achieve things. We all know that Ashley didn't care and the club was going nowhere and any money generated went into him pocket.

Eddie loves Elliot. He has stated when asked, frequently, he wishes he'd never had to sell him.

He would have been more of a Utility player and the club probably wouldn't have bought Jacob Ramsey. Anderson plays all his positions and also Joelinton's positions too.

It was a toss up between Anderson + Minteh or selling Gordon. Gordon was instrumental in the Cup win, despite not being available for the final. We could argue that in retrospect perhaps Anderson and Minteh would have smoothed the drop off in critical positions, the Club would have spent 55m quid else where and not purchased Elanga.

Wudda, shudda, coulda. I've had this debate with the lads in the whatsapp groups.

This is an interesting case study in the knock on affects of specific transfers.

The bottom line is that PSR/SCR/FFP is working perfectly to protect the cartel.

Losing Anderson is symbolic or how corrupt the system is. Clubs are rewarded for selling the players they develop in academies. Basically talent farming. Clubs should be rewarded for not spending money on transfers and developing talent through to the first team should be celebrated not used as get out of jail free cards.

Trying to find a positive spin on it.

At least the club is developing top talent.

Anderson, Miley both top top quality players who have come through the academy system and made it to Prem/International level.

The modern team 'Pathway' is used a lot. Whilst Tino & Hall aren't academy players they have been developed around the first team coaching system.

Newcastle united are positioning as a club like Dortmund. Can't compete with the Cartel of their league like Bayern in Germany. However, we can trump the likes of Brighton etc as a genuine opportunity for younger talent to play champions league football.

Whilst the Brighton, Brentford model offers a 'pathway' for players to showcase their talent and get a move to a cartel, Champions league team.

What NUFC can offer is a bridge to the very very best clubs, Real Madrid, Barcelona for the world top top tier talent.

Giving them the platform to gain Champions League experience, the chance to win things domestically and grow with a club looking for long term stability at the top top table of Global football.

I think this is you projecting your dislike of Howe personally.

Eddie clearly rated Anderson and as Rag has said has spoken about how much he rates him.

At the time he wasn't getting a starting position in our midfield, with hindsight we can see what he's become but he wasn't that when we sold.

If we had to chose between him and Gordon at hte time, most would have sold him - even if they wouldn't admit that now.

        Eddie's direct quotes:

Yes, Eddie Howe has openly stated that selling Elliot Anderson deeply hurt and frustrated him. He has repeatedly described the deal to Nottingham Forest F.C. as "the most reluctant transfer" of his managerial career.

The Emotional Toll: Howe admitted that the forced sale "didn't sit right with me then, and doesn't sit right with me today". He noted that seeing the academy product flourish elsewhere and score against Newcastle was incredibly "painful" and upsetting. May 11 '26

At the time is sucked but we all thought lesser of Evils. Keeping Gordon was the priority at the time. His levels got NUFC to the final and the lads won the cup. Gordon's efforts that season contributed to the UCL qualification this season just gone.
