  • Wissa made a statement

?Over the past few weeks, there has been increased speculation about my future at Brentford Football Club. As a result, I wanted to speak directly and honestly about exactly where things stand.

?I have stayed silent for much of the summer, but with just hours remaining of the transfer window I feel compelled make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. I believe the club are unduly standing in my way despite a series of fair offers throughout the summer.

?I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I signed back in 2021. I am proud of what we have built together and have never taken the opportunity to play for the club for granted.

?Brentford fans will always have a special place in my heart. And I have always conducted myself professionally, both on and off the pitch. It has been a privilege to wear this shirt for 149 games and celebrate 49 goals.

?Earlier this summer, I held open discussions with the club?s senior management, including key directors and the new head coach. I made clear my intention to explore a new challenge.

?During these conversations, it was confirmed to me and my representatives that the club would not stand in my way if a reasonable offer was received. This was also put in writing.

?Based on this understanding, I sought to find a new club, keeping Brentford informed with full transparency at every step.

?I received a formal offer from another Premier League club and communicated I wanted to join. I was under the impression, from all my conversations with Brentford, that there was a mutual agreement to part ways.

?Yet as the window comes to an end, the club has now significantly changed its position, going against what was communicated. This has left me in a difficult and frustrating position. The promise that I could leave this summer has not been fulfilled. It saddens me to have to write that, and I maintain total respect for the club and its fans.

?I want to make it clear that I have not acted unprofessionally, nor do I wish to leave Brentford on bad terms. I have been transparent in my position throughout. I have continued to communicate openly with the club and conduct myself in a way that reflects my values as both a footballer and a human being.

?I remain hopeful that a fair and reasonable resolution can still be found before the transfer window shuts.

?In the meantime, I must do what I feel is right for my career and family and insist that Brentford honour their promise to let me join a new club and at a fair price.

?I want to thank all the Brentford fans for their support and understanding during this difficult situation. Your energy and belief in me has always meant a great deal. This has never been about walking away from what is a fantastic football club. It?s about being allowed to move forward with Brentford's blessing based on repeated promises that I could leave for a new chapter this summer.

?Being made to stay beyond this summer will only tarnish four wonderful years at this incredible club and so I ask Brentford?s owners and directors to now honour their promise to let me leave in the final hours of the window.

    ??????????????????????
I was always sure this move was going to happen.

I don't mind players wanting to leave clubs, I get it.

But it's how you go about it. Putting statements into the press, refusing to play or train....it's all shite behaviour.

Plenty of folk are stuck in workplaces they don't like that they can't leave because they signed a contract. There are worse places of employment than a Premier League club where every aspect of your physical health is looked after, you have access to the best training facilities, physios, medical care, food...the list goes on...all while being paid 10s and 10s of thousands of pounds for playing football.

Brentford do sound like they're being arsey about all this but they're in a bind, too-they've lost some of their best players and their manager so are bound to want to keep another of their key players.

This differs because he has something in writing (or says he does) but I guess it comes down to the definition of a 'fair price'.

He has gone about the situation in a totally different way to Judas though, and given his current club plenty of notice of his intentions up front, rather than being sneaky and cowardly like Youknowwho.

If he was promised he could leave if a suitable offer comes in then they refuse to let him go i can fully understand his annoyance at least he has gone into detail of the broken promises unlike Isak who was very vague in his statement. Hopefully he can sign for us tomorrow.

It's clear that neither player has behaved well.

My 10 bobs worth on the matter...

According to this message Wissa had it in writing.
Isak never had any such agreement.

Wissa's at a club which is going through great change, manager gone, Bummo gone. End of an Era so to speak
NUFC are going from strength to strength with Champions League football with a harmonious squad looking up at taking a top 4 spot.

Liverpool have pulled every dirty trick in the book to bully Newcastle United into selling their player. Their behaviour prompted Newcastle to send a very strong warning that legal action was going to be taken should the persist leading to the insulting 110m bid.
NUFC made a direct and fair market value offer for a 29 yr old Wissa with 1 year left on his contract.

Isak's agent sat in the Stand beside the Liverpool DoF at a home friendly at Anfield.
Newcastle have been respectful of Brentford's stance.

There is a difference. One club has acted with integrity and dignity. Quietly going about their transfer business in a respectful manner. The other is the so called 'Big club'. However, they've acted in a bottom-feeding grubby dole dossing shop-lifting manner, leaving a bad taste in the mouth of every football neutral with the slightest sense of manners.

Their actions are clearly unbefitting that of the Champions of England.

I don?t believe our club done anything improper regarding Wissa and Brentford are looking too much money for him. Let the deal die I say.

The part where he claims it is in writing is the bit that could change a lot of how I see this.

Brentford have to respond, so letÂ’s see what they say.

It looks to me that, IF true, he has kept this internal and is a probable reason for his sh!t behaviour, and the rumour that Brentford will demand £65m for him AND there is just over 1 day to go, has been the spark for his statement.

IF true, and I keep repeating that 🤣, then he has seen Mbuemo allowed to leave, Norgaard allowed to leave, and the club are not honouring what they gave him in writing?

If they are asking for £65m… is that a reasonable offer? They ended up selling Mbuemo for £70, after appearing to accept less beforehand but increasing the price for Mbuemo… who is 3 years young, scored more goals and got more assists.

LetÂ’s see how Brentford respond, but this puts a possible new perspective on his behaviour for me.

Surely if he has it in writing though - that he could leave. That would count as an amendment to his contract.

Same way as me getting a payrise, I get it in writing first and then get given a new contract.

Once in writing I would expect it be honoured.

I guess that the problem for Wissa here is "reasonable price". Who decides what is "reasonable"??
The exact wording of what he has in writing might be critical here - but "reasonable" does sound a bit waffly.

                      Deliberately so I'd imagine.
