Sick price for a player NOT at the right age, clearly a bit of a rat and will miss games against Man U and Chelsea among others. Potentialy 7 games, including CL.

Not very excited about this one.

AFCON runs 21st Dec to 18th Jan… assuming a week either side he would be unavailable from 14th Dec till 25th Jan IF DR Congo make the final.

He’d be here for the mackems and IF DR Congo make the final, he would miss 6 Prem games, 1 FA Cup game, and l League Cup semi final if we are still in it at the time, and 1 CL game at HOME against PSV… but he could be back for that, and other Prem games… all depends on how well the DR Congo team do.

That’s just the price of signing an AFCON player, other teams we face during his absence will be missing players too.

As for his age, he turns 29 on Wed, has a fantastic fitness record (2 ankle knocks in his entire career), and played in the Prem for 4 years now… his record is in his side and though there are no guarantees his record suggest he’ll be available a lot more than Isak was.

We also have Woltemade, the lad has plenty of time to get up to speed and be ready to play in those games (however many it turns out to be) and last season we only had Isak as the fit striker till way after this point, so it’s nothing new.

As for being a rat, I felt the same way UNTIL he released his statement claiming to have it in writing he would be allowed to leave if a reasonable offer was made… Brentford have made no comment, certainly no denial on the back of that… the only reasonable conclusion is they knew it to be correct and couldn’t comment. He had seen Mbuemo and Norgaard allowed to leave, yet he was being denied the opportunity he had in writing?

The price… we were never getting him on the cheap, and he scored as many goals from open play as Isak last season, but wasn’t on pen duty so scored less Prem goals overall. I’d say £50 + 5 potential in add on’s isn’t too bad for a player that had that record, had his injury history, and brings a wealth of Ptem experience so will hit the ground running.

The flip side of being at AFCON means he will be training with the remaining players and getting to know how Eddie wants him to play in the next 2 weeks so be ready to hit the ground running after the break, so there’s a Pro to the Con of him being away later in the year.

Pleased we got him, yes it was a little expensive but we have replaced the goals in the team that we have lost from Isak

Obviously there is no guarantee but Wissa could be invaluable to us this season.

Last season no one scored more goals from open play than Wissa. And he did it for Brentford, who are they? 😆

Yes, he had Mbuemo, but we also have Murphy who I suspect may be tasked with holding onto his first team place.

Gives Woltermade time to bed in (cup games and Europe) rather than chuck him in at the deep end in the premier league (ahem Sesko &#128518

If Wissa's goals this season are the reason we get Champions League football next season then the money will have been well spent.

And remember this, he's the only lad in the squad with a two figure premiership goal score.
