Just been reading about London City women?s WSL team.

This is what I?ve been looking and waiting for - and for me, women?s football needs to be about and until this happens I just can?t take it seriously as a professional game.

They are not affiliated to a men?s team.

They have their own owners, kit, sponsors and business structure. They are their own club

Yes, they share a stadium but it is a massive step in the right direction.

Mind you - the financial stability of women?s football needs to be looked in to to ensure the growth is sustainable and it doesn?t crash.

As it stands, the biggest most successful clubs and in reality until now, the entire WSL has been propped up by the men?s game, their clubs, kit, sponsors and as such I just haven?t been able to take it seriously as a professional sport.

Until now it?s been skewed by the usual suspects of the men?s game and it?s simply felt like a tax evasion scheme for the men?s teams.

I hope goes well for them, although the London Lionesses are going to find it tough against the Chelsea Cheetahs and woMANchester teams

I think the raised profile of the women's game over the last few years has been fantastic and the impact on how girls feel about themselves has been almost era-defining-it genuinely has been that significant.

Ironically, having said all that-and genuinely meaning it-I'm not that keen on watching it.

Would agree with that completely Zip.

Same as you, working in a school - the impact the Lionesses have had on girls in sport is something else.
