  • England U21s

For the 2nd time in a row they are champions.

Lee Carsley generally did a solid job during the Nations League and got us promoted. He played players in their best positions and left players out for the greater good rather than forcing them in due to their status.

Winning 2 under 21s in a row. . . does he get the nod when Tuchel leaves - assuming he doesn't win the Euros and based on how we've been, I don't see it.

      Only choice for me!

Yes he ballsed up in that seniors match when he did try to play all his stars in one position - I can only think he was proving a point as it was never gonna to work.

But, he knows the next generation of England players, he?s worked with the majority of them, developing them, they respect him and they have been coached in his style and tactics for years.

And he?s made them winners on the international stage!

He?s earned the opportunity for me, this is what progression in the FA camp should be, he?s worked with them at youth level, he should be next in succession to work with them at senior level!

      And

All this talk of Howe going to England. We?ve seen how long it takes for him to bed players in to the team.

He?s a master tactician. I just don?t think international football would give him the time to get his EVER EVOLVING tactics across to a bunch of guys he only sees a couple of weeks at a time.

International football is built on a strong defence and a gifted flair player or two providing some magic.

      Maradona
      Messi
      The real Ronaldo

It?s where Southgate let us down - defensively sound with a double pivot - but shackled any flair and any individual moment of magic that could win a tournament.

Eddie isn?t the man, I mean, he is, but not for England

Great match, very exciting final. Delighted to beat ze German obvs.

Carsley is a good at this level. However, it doesn't translate to the Senior game.

A Champions League winner translate to World Cup winner.

        U-21s doesnt.

Respect to the geezer for his good work with the young lads but let's not get giddy!

Oh hey, it?s more a hands off Eddie post there mate

But for me, the FA should be investing in their U21 coach to prepare them to be the next in line to step up to senior manager.

There should be an emphasis on that career pathway, to promote from within where possible.

They didn?t deem him ready this time. So what do they need to do to get him ready?

Ah fair enough. I just don't see Eddie leaving Newcastle United. He'll be our manager for at least 5 years or more.

As for England, he's too much of a Monday - Friday tracksuit manager for that job. He's still only 47. In 15 yrs when he's won the Champions League and multiple Premier Leagues as Newcastle United manager then he might look at slowing down and the England job would make sense.

Before Tommy T got the job, he's made it clear that he had absolutely zero interest in the job. So much so that the FA didn't even contact his agent.
