A modern day Plague. This will be spoken about in decades and centuries to come on what/what not to do. Science is evolving but so is how fiscal policies are determined.Originally posted by Old_pie View PostOr maybe being prudent all those years has given us the means to better handle this crisis financially.

How, could they see into the future?Originally posted by Old_pie View PostOr maybe being prudent all those years has given us the means to better handle this crisis financially.
The current situation will prove to be a case of the rich/business owners/Tories hating socialism until they need it.
Privatise the profits, socialise the losses.

I admire your outdated communist/labour principles, unfortunately, Corbyn and Abbott will not help us, sorry about that.Originally posted by BigFatPie View PostWhat about all the lives the last 10 years of Tory austerity has cost?
Now matter how well/badly the current crisis is handled, it won’t make up for those.

It is so called ‘parasites’ like Richard Branson who started from nothing - worked hard to create businesses that employ thousands of people providing them with a living. These entrepreneurs provide jobs and security for families so how can you call them parasites. Do you think that Richard Branson’s business just suddenly appeared out of nowhere making him an instant billionaire !!! - He gives millions to charities (a proper parasite eh)Originally posted by upthemaggies View PostFor the sake of balance
"A rescue package for working class people and communities must be implemented with the same scale and urgency as the bailout of the banks."
"The Time of Corona is a useful reminder that the working class are the producers of ALL wealth. Parasites like Richard Branson merely live high on the backs of working people. We don’t need them. In fact to the contrary, we can’t go on with them. We have enough to carry".
"Coronavirus casts a light on every single part of our society. We will see the best of humanity and the worst of Capitalism”

Yeah Branson is a really good guy. Sued the NHS, pocketed millions from the taxpayer on the back of his sh!t train operations, and expects his Virgin Airlines staff to go 8 weeks without pay while he counts his billions.Originally posted by BanjoPie View PostIt is so called ‘parasites’ like Richard Branson who started from nothing - worked hard to create businesses that employ thousands of people providing them with a living. What, prudence like spending the last decade running the NHS into the ground? We can't just wave a few quid and pluck doctors, nurses and hospital beds out of thin air. The criminal mismanagement of the NHS since the Tories came to power will cost many lives in the coming weeks and months.Originally posted by Old_pie View PostOr maybe being prudent all those years has given us the means to better handle this crisis financially.

It will take years for many systems to recover and something will go by the wayside. Greta can really say her future has been stolen and it won't be global warming, the downturn in activity will provide what she's been shouting about.Originally posted by Notts78 View PostA modern day Plague. What was the note the guys at the Treasury left for the Tories to pick up? With no money in the coffers at that time how would Gordon have tackled this current issue?Originally posted by BigFatPie View PostHow, could they see into the future?

It is always good sense to have something in reserve for when the unexpected happens. That sometimes means going without and it was going without some things that have enabled me to build up a bit of a pot of emergency money which I now need as my investments are down so much that they cannot provide the income to keep me going.
