That ain't gonna happen under Labour mate. They're draining the private sector of money to pay for the public sector already. How is that going to get us out the gutter that you say we are in??? prepare yourself for strikes and shortages in 2025 just like the 70's.

Oh dear, desperation now, come on admit it for once that it was a Labour leadership feck up, going by that logic Labour were culpable on some of the stuff Labour supported the Tories over in their 14 years in charge! … Balanced 😉Originally posted by Elite_Pie View PostThe decision to invade Iraq was supported by the Conservative party who were in opposition at the time.
Even more balance!

Labour were in power, but all the other major parties supported them. And of course Labour were culpable on some stuff where they supported the Tories and it went tits up. I would have thought it was pretty obvious that it works both ways.Originally posted by keldsyke View PostOh dear, desperation now, come on admit it for once that it was a Labour leadership feck up, going by that logic Labour were culpable on some of the stuff Labour supported the Tories over in their 14 years in charge!

Really? Boris Johnson was brought up in the 60s and ended up as Prime Minister. On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate him on his respect for the elderly, females, the law, and the 10 commandments?Originally posted by SinceSept1959 View PostKids growing up in the 50's & 60's were brought up to respect their parents, grandparents, elderly people, females , The Law, the church and the 10 commandments.

I think SinceSep59 was referring to kids brought up in England/Britain/UK, not America and wandering around somewhat for a few years. It was just about the 70's before he arrived here by which time there was dwindling respect for elderly, females, the law, and the 10 commandments. Or was that the late 50's, can't remember now.Originally posted by Elite_Pie View PostReally? Boris Johnson was brought up in the 60s and ended up as Prime Minister. Seems as though it's not a new thing:
We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self-control." These words - expressing the all-too-familiar contemporary condemnation of young people - were actually inscribed on a 6,000-year-old Egyptian tomb.
Later, in the fourth century BC, Plato was heard to remark: "What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets, inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?"
And then, a few hundred years later, in AD1274, Peter the Hermit joined the chorus. "The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint ... As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behaviour and dress."
BoJo must fit one of those eras, after all he did study classics.

True, but a quick Wiki search says his dad Stanley and mum Charlotte, who taught him his moral values were both educated here. Both descended from a titled background, so Boris should have been brought up with the very best of British values.Originally posted by Old_pie View PostI think SinceSep59 was referring to kids brought up in England/Britain/UK, not America.
In the interest of balance, I should point out that allegations that Stanley was a wife beater and a s ex pest were never proved in court:
Biographer Tom Bower records in an interview with his first wife Charlotte Fawcett that 'he hit me many times, over many years'. She said of a 1970s incident "He broke my nose. He made me feel like I deserved it. I want the truth to be told."
On 15 November 2021, Caroline Nokes accused Johnson of inappropriately touching her at the Conservative Party conference in Blackpool in 2003. Johnson said that he had "no recollection of Caroline Nokes at all". Following this, journalist Ailbhe Rea accused Johnson of groping her at the 2019 Conservative Party conference.

Another group of twenty, Pakistani men, convicted of grooming, for a combined total of about two hundred years. During the case, one of the victims was being stared down in court by one of the accused mens family and there were confrontations outside the court.Originally posted by OchPie View Post
Most grooming gangs in the UK are made up of white men. What "cultural differences" do you blame that on? Or do you just think the victims of white grooming gangs should shut up and be ignored because that's not a "cultural difference" to talk about?
Enlighten me OP, can you point out any more, white, grooming gangs which you insist are in the majority? The only white grooming mob I can think of was totally debunked as the work of a fantasist who made allegations against high, profile men. The one you linked to in Walsall happened during my time overseas but to suggest it's the majority is blinkered IMO.Last edited by Med Pie; 07-11-2024, 06:55 AM.

Charles De Gaulle always vetoed UK applications to join the EEC.Originally posted by Med Pie View PostThat's nothing to do with Brexit, ok, it maybe made them dislike us even more but the French in particular have always hated us, they even veto'd our first application to join what was then the Common market.
What the EU allowed, was the importation of cheap labour and the export of what were once, well paying jobs to poorer nations where they could pay people less. Off the top of my head, was it Nissan who moved their entire, operation to Poland?
The UK only gaining admission after his demise.
Maybe CDG loved the UK more than was thought possible?

The real facts about these heinous acts will only be revealed by open and honest detailed publication of statistics .Originally posted by Med Pie View PostAnother group of twenty, Pakistani men, convicted of grooming, for a combined total of about two hundred years. The one you linked to in Walsall comes up as 'page not found'.
Denmark openly publishes these figures .
Folks here seeking FOI details re ; homicides were answered " that figures for these types of criminal acts, are not recorded."
Once again , make of it what you will.
