  • There would have come a point where each of us began to take this seriously, but not all at the same time. Maybe Lullapie's take is just a reflection of where NZ is at right now.
I might have been the first person to post about Covid on here when I flagged up the Italian league games being called off but my only concern at that stage was the implications for the English game. It's a lot to take in, so I think we should go easy on each other. We have every right to expect our governments to be better informed however. If we can't hold them to account then we're in even bigger trouble.

Asked whether the United States could become the new epicenter, she said: "We are now seeing a very large acceleration in cases in the U.S. So it does have that potential. We cannot say that is the case yet but it does have that potential."
I do agree Cher, but NYC has the majority of cases. That has been the epicentre of the US outbreak, with 60% of the US's cases being in the New York Metro area.

In a national population of 330 million the remaining 40% will be pretty much spread out. The mayor of New York came out and said that hospital admissions in his City had started to reduce.

It's also a bit misleading how Margaret Harris uses her figures though, as in the last 24 hours there have been 55,000 new cases worldwide and the US accounts for 14,000 of them, about 25% sounds more appropriate and more inclusive. She could have said that the number of new cases in the US accounts for 100% of new cases in the US

It's good how 'experts' use figures to make their arguments more powerful, because what is more important is how many people die after contracting the virus. Italy and Spain are basket cases, but there have been concerns about how these causes of death have been recorded. The US is currently in the same boat as Germany with a very low death rate.

Are we now moving from being concerned about how many people die of the virus to trying to stop anybody in the world from contracting it, because if we are, we will be in lockdown for months to come yet?

One of the reasons that I have stopped posting, the hypocrisy on here is astounding....almost criminal.

Snobhead comes on yet again, slagging off the government, but it's him and his buddies in their own little bus paying 40 0r 50 quid because they, and he and his family, wanted their annual day out off to Chelters, KILLING PEOPLE.....now all of a sudden it's the government's fault!!!!.....it's beyond belief.

I genuinely have no idea any more on who is right or wrong....but ffs, stop blaming the government every time idiots cannot use common sense and self-isolate....every time I click on https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ another 1,000 people are dead.....honestly, if you are that stupid to venture outside your house, it's your fault, nobody elses.

Good post UTM. Coronavirus is being treated how everything is treated in the world nowadays. It's hard to work out what is fact and what is Fake News. Article below is from a 'reputable' source in NZ.

Yes, because they decided on a course of action that allowed it to go ahead. Who else was to blame?

No, I wanted it to go ahead for selfish reasons. It wasn't the money, even though I have to spend over £2,000 in November to finance a trip in March, it would have been refunded in the event of cancellation. I wanted it to go ahead because it's my favourite day of the year and 40+ people had booked time off work to go with me. I was simply following government advice.

Right, so here I could play your game and suggest that you were prepared to risk your lives rather than deny your son a footy match. I won't, because I'm pretty sure that just like me you were following government advice at the time.

You've ruined his family day out, he's filling in a claim form as I type.......someone needs to pay for this malfeasance.

If you hadn't been regularly been rinsed by laddo, I might be able to take you seriously.

Maybe it's your ability to talk from them.

I can just picture Boris, forcing Elite and his mates on that bus at gunpoint.

                            • You know when this little lot is over, won't Britain be an excellent position for world domination? Our main source of wealth is in finance, insurance, banking, etc, and it's made us a very rich country indeed. We haven't been a major producer and exporter of material goods for many years, unlike most European countries, the USA, China. These countries have lost their production and will not recover lost staff, material supplies and transport systems for years, they will need financial help, step forward - Great Britain! Ta daaa!

                              All together now,

"Land of hope and glory, mother of the free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider, shall thou bounds be set
God who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet."

Shows how easily the gullible were swayed by a few press conferences and sound bites. A lot of Europe has responded badly (France included) but your boy seems to have had a particularly bad game. And Brexit preparations impacted the response too. Good job the Tories have realised how a bit of socialism can help. Roll on the wealth tax.
