Oh dear. Any man that can publicly support the views of the self publicist that is Tony Blair and does not understand that Tony is only in it for Tony and only ever has been in it for Tony, and that Tony is the singular most deluded man in British politics in my lifetime should hang his head shame.Originally posted by BigFatPie View PostIf only winning a decent majority was some guarantee that a government would be any good at governing. This Tory government is the worst since the last one. I saw Tony Blair on tv this morning with clear, coherent strategies on how the current mess could somehow be mitigated.
Anyone who doesn’t think he would still do a massively better job than the current idiot is smoking some serious sh!t.
He should really have been prosecuted for some of his actions and I still wonde why not!!

... isn't it time the 100% Hindsight Mob - and they really are a sickening mob (with the main self appointed cheerleader the appalling, ignorant, ill mannered P Morgan) - just took a pill. They're rather like those in WW2 who were asking why Chamberlain betrayed the Czechs when the war still had to be won. Just wait till it's all sorted, then have your inquest ... you mindless critters (with apologies to critters).

I realise the government are making a really bad job of sorting this, but let's be True Brits and pretend they're doing well.

An awful lot of stoopid things said about this virus situation but comparing it to the war is right up there.Originally posted by TheBlackHorse View Post... isn't it time the 100% Hindsight Mob - and they really are a sickening mob (with the main self appointed cheerleader the appalling, ignorant, ill mannered P Morgan) - just took a pill. Two sets? How about:Originally posted by Old_pie View PostOn what basis are the other countries on that list recording C19 deaths? I had a quick look but couldn't see.
I am assuming you, like every other man and his dog except for a few on here, know that at least two sets of figures are released for the UK.
Total deaths from ANY cause since February.
Deaths where COVID is the only cause.
Deaths where COVID was not found.
Deaths where COVID was found.
Remember, in the UK COVID is a notifiable disease which means if it is found in ANY death from ANY cause it must be entered on the death certificate. Depending on how you juggle the figures, the number of deaths could be 8% of the quoted numbers especially since deaths in care homes are now included and most of those would not previously have had an autopsy.
It would be interesting to know how other countries break down their figures.

If a foreign country has a lot of deaths it's because they've massaged the figures upwards to get bailouts. If they have low figures it's because they're massaging the figures downwards to look better.
The only country telling the truth is good old blighty, and probably some of the ex colonies because they also inherited the Anglo-Saxon honesty gene.

Yep, that's the argument. Good old British exceptionalism - partly why we have one of the highest tolls in the world.Originally posted by drillerpie View PostIf a foreign country has a lot of deaths it's because they've massaged the figures upwards to get bailouts. As the bodies were piling up in Italy and Spain they were easily dismissed as just being poorly managed backwaters.

I've mentioned him on here before, but once again the column by MD in the latest Private Eye is well worth a read for anyone prepared to / has the ability to read and think critically.Originally posted by Mapperleypie View PostYep, that's the argument. A week late on the recommendation as I have a subscription and the post is only being delivered weekly at the moment where I'm living, but, honestly, the magazine is worth buying even just for his columns alone right now.
