Ex-Notts Player Signs For...

Steady Eddy made it so clear that having a player who performs at 7/10 every single game is way better than having one who blows hot and cold. One of the most dependable Notts players this century and a great servant for the club. Hope he goes on to have a successful career in coaching or management.

Or he plays a blinder because all he is being asked to do is be a defender with other defenders around him and not be a Bobby Moore (and thumps one in).Originally posted by LeftPeg_Pie View PostNot surprised he’s got a L2 gig. Nice little bit of narrative too, with us having signed Platt.
Can’t wait for him to play at ML. It will be classic pantomime villain stuff whilst he tries to kick Macca into the sun for 90 minutes.

That seems to be the thing at Notts, asking players to do what they cant do. Nemane and Jones for example..Originally posted by SmiffyPie View PostOr he plays a blinder because all he is being asked to do is be a defender with other defenders around him and not be a Bobby Moore (and thumps one in).

I don’t think either are mutually exclusive. I posted at the end of the season that Baldwin was asked to do far too much in that middle centre back role.Originally posted by SmiffyPie View PostOr he plays a blinder because all he is being asked to do is be a defender with other defenders around him and not be a Bobby Moore (and thumps one in).
I’d actually be amazed if you could find anyone in L2 capable of doing that role consistently well, over a whole season. Definitely think there’s a good defender in there.

For me he was our best defender and yes there were mistakes but that’s going to happen with the amount of times he was on the ball, same for any player on the pitch getting the ball so much except he was the last line of defence.Originally posted by LeftPeg_Pie View PostI don’t think either are mutually exclusive. I think this is a bit kind. He did see a lot of the ball and it's a tough job, but so many of his mistakes weren't really about the 'playing out' but because he appeared to stop paying attention in the middle of a football match.Originally posted by matt_magpie View PostFor me he was our best defender and yes there were mistakes but that’s going to happen with the amount of times he was on the ball, same for any player on the pitch getting the ball so much except he was the last line of defence.
Wish him well, though. Fun player to watch and outstanding in the NL, but we needed to improve on him.

Bradfud fans debating who got the better player, have to wait and see.Originally posted by jacobncfc View PostI think this is a bit kind. Baldwin has probably done better than any offer he had from us or what he was on already.
Yes, he was our best defender and we could well look at his departure with regret. I hope Maynard wasn't influential in this in any major way...
I do think he probably needed to move on, however. Before us he had hardly played any first team football at all, so the last two years will have been a momentous time for him, lots to absorb and lots of lessons to learn. Maybe he hasn't always taken these on board or reacted well. He was probably in real need of a change and a chance to reset.
Really enjoyed watching him play and wish him well. I think Bradford will benefit from taking him.
