  • Ex-Notts Player Signs For...

Saw a thread like this on the Chesterfield forum and thought it might be useful here. I'm always interested to see what happens to ex-Magpies, but their updates don't always warrant their own threads.

A few recent moves of ex-Magpies that have interested me are:

    Alan Sheehan
He's joined Southampton as first-team coach this week, working alongside his old Luton boss Nathan Jones.
Former Luton boss Jones, 49, had been widely expected to take charge after the Saints sacked predecessor Ralph Hasenhuttl.

    Leam Richardson
Former loanee was sacked this week as manager of Wigan (who I didn't realise he was managing tbh).
Wigan Athletic sack manager Leam Richardson after losing six of their past seven Championship games.

    Alan Judge
Not really a recent 'move' but I was a bit surprised to see he's still playing regularly for L2 Colchester (who are currently rock bottom of the table).

i know it has been mentioned elsewhere but Ben Turner has gone to FGR as coach.

Peter Butler - Notts County midfield dynamo of the mid 90s - now manages Liberia national football team.

Strange to think he's probably in contact with George Weah (now president of the country).

        He was a terrific midfielder.

Matty Virtue - Liverpool prospect who Alan Hardy was 'reduced to tears' about signing for Notts because he was a Liverpool player.

Now 25 and on loan at Lincoln City (after a couple of years at Blackpool) and appears to be making a recent fist of it.
Lincoln City add midfielder Matty Virtue to their squad on a season-long loan from Blackpool.

I thought Judge was really good in his time at Notts.

He was very good but a couple of injuries have sadly hit hard. His speed was always a threat but I think a lot of that has gone now

Wootton scored twice yesterday for Stockport. It's not been an easy season for him but they've persevered with him and it looks like he may finally be proving his worth there.

Also only noticed today that Kristian Dennis is among the top scorers in League Two, playing for Carlisle.

Colby Bishop isn't doing bad at Pompey.

Yeah noticed Dennis is having a good time at Carlisle with regular goals following his frustrating and unsuccessful time north of the border.

I saw Jimmy Spencer playing for Farsley Celtic recently. He beat a defender on the half way line and outpaced the rest to score with a well placed shot. He’s been there for a few years now and is obviously still going strong.

There was a point around 2014-2015 where I was convinced Jimmy Spencer (who is still only 30) and Ronan Murray were going to become a legendary strike duo at Notts for years to come. Oops.

Speaking of Ronan Murray, according to Wikipedia he's now trying his hand at Gaelic football with his local club Belmullet back in Co. Mayo.
