  • O/T:- Trump Presidency 2.0 [hic sunt dracones]

    From the Beeb, absolutely comical.

Donald Trump?s sentencing made for a jarring juxtaposition.

Prosecutor Joshua Steinglass reviewed what he called the ?overwhelming evidence? behind Trump?s criminal conviction and detailed how the president-elect had shown ?disdain for our institutions and the rule of law? before, during and after the trial.

He said Trump had ?caused enduring damage to public perception for the criminal justice system? and put court officers in danger.

And for that, Steinglass concluded, he should receive no formal punishment.

Trump, convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, was sent on his way Friday morning with a simple ?godspeed? from the judge, rather than any jail time or fine.

    The Teflon Don, strikes again...........................

It's what all dictators do. Put people in key positions and reap the benefits.

      Farce is the correct word.

'Explaining his decision, Judge Merchan says the protections afforded to the office of the president are a "factor that overrides all others".

"Donald Trump, the ordinary citizen, Donald Trump the criminal defendant, would not be entitled to such considerable protections," he adds.'

No wonder he thinks he is untouchable.

Nonetheless Donald Trump now has a criminal record on his file. Let's hope it comes back to bite one day.

Personally I'm more concerned about our corrupt government at the moment than what's happening in another country

The man is repugnant and a waste of skin.

But if you gave me a choice between a different president and Forest losing their next 10 games then bad times for USA.

I guess he will put the right judges in place then appeal it.

Well, to be honest, I was simply pointing out that we do already have a UK Politics thread
