I dont really buy into the Williams left/will leave at the first opportunity narrative.
While with us he was linked with Portsmouth, then signed a new contract. He was also linked with Bradford and came out and said he was fully committed to Notts in post match interviews, so boxed that off pretty quickly.
He lives in Swansea, and for family reasons alone, the move made sense, even though it was frustrating...
The WBA drama while at Swansea probably does have some legs... but if he did come back to Notts I imagine it will probably humble him a bit.
I'd have him back, as long as he bought a house here haha!

It beggars belief that fans have an issue with a manager who earns us a promotion and then leaves when approached by a club two divisions higher.
I'd totally understand if he'd done a Crowley, and moved to a club at the same level. Or he'd done an Allardyce, and stiffed us out of a fee. But come on, it was a job closer to where he lived, a huge reputation boost and a big pay rise.
Every single one of us would do the same in our chosen fields.
If LW wants it, I'll back him every step. If the brothers go with someone else, that's cool too.

Some very bitter people - it's football. I'd question LW sanity if he didnt go to Swansea with all of those things that made sense for him.Originally posted by Notts_fan_Ken View PostIt beggars belief that fans have an issue with a manager who earns us a promotion and then leaves when approached by a club two divisions higher.

The 'first opportunity' thing is lies, turned down Portsmouth and Oxford, before signing a new deal that ensured when he did go we got serious ???.

Williams had us sat in 6th before he left. We will never know if he would have faired any better from January onwards compared to Maynards slump, if he had stayed.
How would he have done with the current defence this season? No one knows.
Football is football, with players, managers and owners coming and going. Anyone plying their trade in the lower divisions should never be looked on as being a traitor for getting a move to a higher league/better pay etc. He didn't do a Big Sam with a note under the door. Swansea approached Notts, Notts got compensation for him. Maybe he looked at WBA because any promises that were made to him at Swansea never materialised? I guarantee fans would have Langstaff back and Ruben too if the opportunity arose.

Do some football supporters never leave a job for promotion or a pay rise? Managers and players are just employees, we can't project supporters' emotions on to them.Originally posted by HeroPie1862 View PostI'd find it difficult to accept Williams back, he'd want to leave again at the wiff of the next opportunity, he's got a track record of that now.
I'd welcome him back.
All the stuff about Allardyce, people should maybe think they've only ever heard one person's version of events. Doesnt mean it's the whole truth....

I think this time around there seem to be more younger and already successful managers on the list. Buckingham and Evatt stand out, Evatt's got 2 promotions, wouldn?t be disappointed with Williams and I like Brennan when I?ve heard him speak. I think we should be able to at least tempt one of them so I?m not sure I?d be so excited to go left field but obviously it could work as we know. Williamson is available but I?m really not that sure about him, well if his interviews are anything to go by.

Yeah, if he lives in Swansea, and distance is an issue for him, he should seek employment in the Swansea areaOriginally posted by platinum_pie View PostHe lives in Swansea, and for family reasons alone, the move made sense, even though it was frustrating...

It's not too much to ask that the manager of the great Notts County is prepared to live in the Nottingham area
