It's right that Maynard has gone but it's disgusting how some of our fans have behaved towards him. Absolutely shameful and those people need to take a long hard look at themselves, I mean some people wanted the bloke out after three matches. Maynard has never badmouthed the fans or said anything too controversial yet some people just couldn't wait to stick the boot in on him.

I actually can't believe how stupid some people can be.

I'm glad the club supported him and his family through that.

Some people (group 1) wanted him out before any matches because they thought his appointment was a mistake, as it has proved to be.

Other people (group 2) abused his wife and family on social media.

What you have to understand is that most people in group 1 were not in group 2.

I would doubt very that they were Notts Fans, Just some lazy bunch of drug sniffing morons with nothing else to do.

          • I assume some posters will be in the know on occasion, the club doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Most people here seem able to distinguish between what's clearly a wind up or might have something in it, they either engage in a reasonable manner or take note and see if it turns out to be true, but there are a handful who are apparently unable to take themselves out of the equation, if they don't have inside info then that means nobody else can possibly know anything either and they go on the attack. If posters have form for consistently spreading disinformation, then by all means call them out, but surely the forum is all the better if people who are in itk feel they can post without being subject to mockery and/or knee-jerk abuse.

This is a general observation and not about this thread in particular.

            • It would be very strange indeed if the people aiming the abuse at Stuart Maynard, his wife and his kids weren?t Notts fans of some description.

Repeatedly calling him a BT engineer , a clown, a muppet, a moron etc online is embarrassing but to abuse his family is shameful and disgusting behaviour if true

Wilshire seems like the kind of appointment the club would make under the owners in that it would be giving someone a platform to which they can take the club upwards as well as themselves.

Obviously one of the youngest coaches out there at 33 and has played at the highest level. Will also have some good contacts in the game no doubt. Would surely command the respect of the players.

I wouldnt be surprised if we looked at him if honest.

I would steer well clear of him though I dont care who he played for if people say Maynard wasnt qualified then this bloke isnt either.

I think he'd be a huge error thats my gut feeling.

                    • So we'll be known as "Jack Wilshere's Notts County" in the media. No thanks.

Agree. We shouldn't be looking at anybody that doesn't have coaching experience in the league. The bros said in their statement promotion last season was their aim & failed so, immense pressure is going to be on the next person to deliver. inexperience is another gamble &. split the fans like Maynard. Every appointment is a gamble but some higher than others.

Maynard and Wilshere are chalk n cheese? one played pub football whilst the other played for England. One captained BT Engineers FC, the other, one of the big 4.
Now don?t get me wrong I don?t know what I?d make of Wilshere the coach, after all he has little in the way of experience, but that fits with what the bros do.
Wilshere hasn?t jumped in to football management with a club but has been learning at academy and then a Championship club. Whilst I assume picking up his coaching badges.

Who did Wenger, Rafa and Mourinho play for again ?

Rooney was top class player would you be ok with him I mean why not he played for England and not a pub team.

Management is totally different to playing isnt it as its about looking after a squad not just yourself.

Kewell played at the highest level too and won a CL something Wilshere never did.

I agree on the snipes about bt engineer etc, cheap digs and probably says more about the posters. I have admiration for hard working people trying to better themselves, was he a disaster? Absolutely not, did he overachieve? No, but not many in the squad did either or the recruitment.

As for the attacks on his family, it?s the lowest of the low.
