Interesting if true. Obviously a virtually blank canvas in managerial terms, but a player steeped in the Arsenal way of playing, so I can see the 'match' in that sense. If it's him then hopefully we get someone burning with ambition to achieve as a manager the potential he never quite fulfilled as a player. I'd prefer someone with a more proven managerial background, but he's worked with several top managers so you would like to think he's picked up some very good ideas up along the way. Certainly fits the description of a 'name'.Originally posted by Lullapie View PostLooks like it is going to be Jack Wilshire then. 8 to 1 on now.

If we get Wilshere in with that experienced Danish number 2 he was working with at Norwich, I'd be okay with that.Originally posted by jackal2 View PostInteresting if true. What i?m not understanding with the Wilshere links is we like to work with data and he provides zero evidence either way.Originally posted by KCNotts View PostIf we get Wilshere in with that experienced Danish number 2 he was working with at Norwich, I'd be okay with that.
I?ll just come out and say it I?ll be underwhelmed if it?s him and it would be a case of ?big name? getting a job based on what ?

I dunno man. I don't think there is much between any of them. I think a lot of management is just luck. At least Wilshere has been coached by Wenger and must have picked up a few things. It's a bit different to Wealdstone.Originally posted by legs77 View PostWhat i?m not understanding with the Wilshere links is we like to work with data and he provides zero evidence either way.

If he has an experienced assistant I'd give him a go.
My first choices would be Buckingham and Evatt though.

Rooney/Neville were coached by Ferguson and Tony Adam’s by Wenger it just smacks of big name.Originally posted by KCNotts View PostI dunno man. I don't think there is much between any of them. As for digging at Maynard I’d argue he is better than Wilshere he has put the graft in at a lower level whilst having a job too.
If he gets the job I’ll bet he is worse than Maynard was by some distance that is my hunch.
End of the day you are as good as your players and Wenger/Ferguson had the very best give them players that Ipswich/Burnley have their records would be poor that’s how it is.

Yeah but even Rooney had a good season at Derby. Neville stepped in to a situation at Valencia he wasn't prepared for and none of the players understood him. Football management is just luck and circumstance. That's why managers get sacked all the time...even the best ones. You are only ever a few defeats away from the old heave ho.Originally posted by legs77 View PostRooney/Neville were coached by Ferguson and Tony Adam’s by Wenger it just smacks of big name.

Buckingham was given a go when he had no experience, as was Evatt. They all have to start somewhere.

That might be so but he is a walking disaster of a manager but it hasn’t stopped 3 championship clubs employing him basically on his name as he has achieved nothing as I said.Originally posted by KCNotts View PostYeah but even Rooney had a good season at Derby. Neville didn’t have to take it but he thinks he is the oracle on everything from football, politics and business you only have to listen to him I mean even after his spell you’d think it would humble him abit but no he puts the boot in on people far better than he is.
Buckingham didn’t have to have over 100 games to his name before Oxford came in for him and he had earned his stripes out of the spotlight.
You are right it is about luck but at our club you have to also factor in you don’t get a full say on transfers too so if we sign cr*p the coach will take ALL the blame which imo is completely wrong.
Yes Evatt got a chance without anything but no disrespect we are a much bigger club than Barrow and our fanbase is far more demanding we should be going out for someone with a record if we can otherwise what is the point sacking Maynard ?

I honestly don't know why people have already decided that it's gonna be a name we're seeing pop up in the news and betting discourse. The owners are dilligent and have probs had their ears to the ground for months now, probably even as earliest as Jan/Feb. I have no doubt they'll always be on top of manager movements because all it takes is associated winning percentages and look of a manager and they're picked up by a team above us, like Burchnall and Williams. It'd be daft if they didn't have a roadmap on alternating paths/outcomes. I'd be suprised if it was someone like Buckingham, because he's already known to be a good coach, but again, likely to be snapped up if we start off really well which leaves us when Williams left for Swansea. I think it'll be someone we won't really have heard from, but fits the bill and hopefully in accordance to very recent events, they bring in a very experienced backroom staff (and one with depth for that matter).

Evatt got Bolton up though out of this division which in recent history have certainly been a bigger club than us. No idea what a personality he is, heard a couple of interviews a while back and he sounded level headed and straight talking and probably be my No1 choice but I think we?d do really well to get him.Originally posted by legs77 View PostThat might be so but he is a walking disaster of a manager but it hasn’t stopped 3 championship clubs employing him basically on his name as he has achieved nothing as I said.
