  • I'm somewhat disappointed that one R. Moniz, who is currently available, isn't in the running.

I'd wager that was not the case with LW, tbh.

I've said it many times, he'd be great under these owners

I hope it is. It's not going back for me it would be a case of picking up from where he left off. He doesn't have an EFL promotion on his CV so why not come here and stand a chance of getting one next season like Evatt, Parkinson and Challinor got one at this level. We are the biggest club in League Two as well, he knows the club and some of the players as well. He had his most successful season as a head coach here and we were 5th when he left with an incredible 57% win ratio winning 48 of his 83 games.

I remember the Morecambe home game on 29th December 2023 where we beat them 5-0 and that was one of LW's last games in charge.

I tend to agree. I will never forget when we played Doncaster at home under the coated one and beat them 2-1. It was such a memorable game of passing, attacking and entertaining football. Bearing in mind it was ten years ago and was a style like nothing seen from Notts at league one level before.

There's a commonality in terms of football philosophy, but personality-wise Moniz is the polar opposite of our owners. They are calm, pragmatic and believe in a team approach to club management, while Moniz is famously fiery, confrontational and uncompromising, insistent that his way is the only way. He never seems to stay at a club longer than a year, and he seems to have fallen out with the hierarchy or certain players at most of the clubs he's managed. Moniz is a great character and you kind of have to love his idealism, but I'm not sure his man-management techniques match his unquestionable technical coaching ability.

There?ll be jobs coming up in the champ and L1, Carricks gone today and I think there?s others vacancies open already.
That maybe the issue, funds, someone dropping down where they want to be probably want good backing, probably top 3 backing and are we going to give this?

                  • NBA Finals start tonight and the trends there are interesting.

Both teams have clear leaders - the Head Coaches, who can make those young teams take on identities the others can't

OKC - manic defence, so much ball pressure, steals at a level never seen before
Indiana - super fast pace of play, the main player the one most willing to follow the coach's vision

We had that kind of strong identity under LW and it was great. I hope whoever the Bros appoint can bring that back, regardless of what the exact formula is. SM was never going to have nearly the same cachet with the squad and month on month our identity faded away.

                      Interesting decision, that.

Carrick's got a 46% win ratio and led Middlesbrough to one play-off and three top half finishes, but they've sacked him for failing to get them to the Premier League after three seasons. I think that maybe says more about Middlesbrough's overblown expectations than Carrick's abilities as a coach. Neil Warnock had to perform one of his late season rescue acts to save Boro from the drop to League One about five years ago but now they think consistent top half finishes in the notoriously tough Championship are beneath them. Delusions of grandeur perhaps?

The sky guy reckoned they had a top 6 budget this season, whether that?s true is another question.

                        • As joint managers are making somewhat a comeback around the world, we could see a double act of Martin Allen/Ricardo Moniz.

                          Or even better, Fullerton/Kiwomya.

                          • I don?t think we will see a new Head Coach come in who is out of work. If we had a target and that target was out of work, this would all be wrapped up by now, surely?

So it?s one of 2 options in my opinion. Someone in a role who we are negotiating with to get him released or we are looking at a foreign HC and we are awaiting VISA approval.

This is why I don?t expect the likes Williams or Williamson to be announced as our new HC.

                              • Priske would be an amazing coup but not the way Bros' track record goes. I can't see Williams back but would be happy enough with that. I think it will be somebody completely out of the blue.
