Not sure I agree. If the club expects the head coach to finish top three but the budget is equivalent to upper-mid table, the head coach has to overperform to achieve those goals.Originally posted by Chicken Balti Pie View PostThe head coach doesn't really need to worry about the budget though, not in their wheelhouse
The next move for LW is huge for his career. I imagine he'd only want to return to Notts if the conditions were in place for success and another promotion. He might have looked at the squad and budget and thought nope.

That's a plausible theory! He likes his 'beggars and choosers' idea...For a Championship job he's destitute again (as he was when he first took the Notts job), but can still be a chooser from L2 downwards I think...Originally posted by slack_pie View PostNot sure I agree. After 2 seasons we all know the level, and we know it's bunched up at L2. There are so many competitive teams but few outstanding ones. If you don't quite stack up it's very easy to go from 6th to 16th
Also, we took a pragmatic step after 2023-24. A Williams style goal - Baldwin to Bostock to Rodrigues/Crowley, play in Nemane behind and Langstaff scores - isn't as available now

LW isn't coming back to Notts unless Swansea has moved closer. That was 1 of his main deciding factors in leaving. Said so himself. Would you employ somebody again who came out with that, knowing his family & wifes business is there? I wouldn't.Originally posted by slack_pie View PostNot sure I agree. I also don't see the Dane coming either. People have just been putting 2+2 together. The Dane link & his contract ending & someone putting a fiver on him at the bookies so his name appears.
I could be barking up the wrong tree completely but that's my view.

It's likely to be someone who hasn't been mentioned on here at all so far

He and his wife live in Newport, Swansea is obviously nearer Newport than NottsOriginally posted by irishpete View PostLW isn't coming back to Notts unless Swansea has moved closer. Guys, it’s probably worth moving this to the new board, as it seems most have made the move now I think.

if that was the case Pep would never have to spend any money on a player !Originally posted by durhampie View PostA good coach can get the best out of any player. Williams is not that man.. The first sign of things going tits up and he is off..
There has never in the history of the game where a manager has turned a bad player into a good one.
Also wish people would stop holding him to "Moved closer to his family so cant leave Wales" at the time it was a fact but nobody expected him to be there for 20 years.
Also some names banded about never mind Williams id bring Maynard back !

That's the 'bread and butter' isn't it?Originally posted by marshall55 View PostQuality on the pitch on matchdays please.
The longer this coach-less spell goes on , the more this 'dread feeling' seems to be gathering in the pit of my stomach. Anyone else? No announcement today, surely means no announcement this W/E? Monday will see the best part of 5 weeks since SM was sacked.
