The cliched saying is "talk is cheap".

IMHO - Better persuaded by what people have actually achieved rather than by what they say they will do.

Why would our brothers do anything scientific or data led there is nothing to suggest that would happen . Better in believing they used a tombola in their recruitments of players staff. Looks like they are lucky owners then

BFP have you actually done any digging on what Edwards has done exactly in coaching or is just more conjecture with the usual negative slant.

You need to mix it up more than Notts do on a Saturday
Ive no idea what youre talking about. Andy Edwards has coached for Orient and various levels at the FA. What hes achieved to get the Notts job would be a mystery but it?s not because we know our HoR knew him from his time at Orient. As you say they were a bit of a mess but we know neither our HoR or our new assistant head coach did nothing to unmess them. If you know something else feel free to share.

I know you log on to these sorts of boards solely to try to take the piss out of other contributors which is fine if thats how you want to spend your time, but debates about negativity and positivity really are dull. Your general position seems to be agreeing with whatever the owners do, which is fine as well, they are very good owners.

Regards Edwards, as assistant he has dealt with top level footballers, some, no doubt prima donna's, that's where his worth comes into play. Forget about Orient etc, he is now at Meadow Lane.
        Very good post.

I think we'll reach the point where any Coach refusing the job because of the structure looks more and more unreasonable.

By doing this they are saying....no, I don't want to collaborate. Yeah, you've been investing and building up this club for years, but I Barry Merrygoround should be the one to decide everything, just transfer all your funds to me and I will bring in some 'good lads' for you. I don't do meetings btw and I'm not all that interested in your data. Yeah, I knew about Football Radar and all that but I'm applying for the job anyway on my terms. Just trust me, Barry Merrygoround.

Nice post ! just to echo these thoughts , who in their right mind would refuse to use data to help them in their job to produce a winning team.?
Possibly a Ron Atkinson Type,?! The days of the dinosaurs are coming to an end.

Spot on, i regret not saying simular. These owners of ours just think differently to the majority in leagues one & two, they got our team playing possesion based in the National cloggers league, pretty much unheard of until they did it........and got us promotion.
The bros will get us promoted without the boom & or bust method that has been a mass failure over the years, they have plenty of money but they have the ethos of not getting on the moneygoround and buying has beens looking for last pay days, NCFC is being run correctly and will probably bring the brothers a huge profit in a few years as we wont be saddled with debt and we maybe have a Championship side.

Perhaps this forum is not for you sunshine, seems like some of the other lefty, pro-hamas, social benefit types have drifted to the far left board in another world, stick to the Saturday flag waving marching in Manchester or London and try to be a good lad, who knows you may see some sense, some day?..

People's politics is irrelevant on here, it's a football forum, and if you think everyone on the other board is left-wing then you haven't been paying attention. Nigel Farage's disciple on earth was organising the welcoming committee, counting us in, two by two. Well, 99.5% of us, apparently.

As for Edwards, I agree with BFP, there is no science in his appointment, it was a lazy pick by our head of recruitment, someone he had worked with before. And our head of recruitment himself was a lazy pick by the bros, again, someone they had worked with before. My honest opinion is that even if they are nice people, they are pretty introverted, and reaching out to and trusting new people does not come easily to them. That's the deal with nerds, I'm a nerd myself, so I understand.

Let's not give them too much credit though, they saved us with their money (people say their Dad is very rich) and we are suitably grateful but other clubs achieved more with less last season, maybe their methods are old fashioned but they seem to work better than ours.

Peoples politics ARE relevent, everywhere. As i said earlier we are were we are and we have got what we have got, but getting better every year. The Bros probably have untold riches to tap into but they refuse to feed the fire which most think is the right thing to do, the alternative is bust down the track.
Glad we are,to a degree, off the merrygoround.

But that?s how football works before pre nerds influence and now. You appoint and select people you know, you have worked with, who you respect and think can do a good job. Long before the days of laptop analysis and reliance on data a manager would move to a new club and bring his trusty sidekick with him. If it is considered lazy now then it was lazy then also.

Before the owners arrived we adopted old fashioned methods season after season, the same as everybody else, and far more other clubs achieved more in the league hence lower placed finishes.

Was that because we had worse managers or because our recruitment was worse?

We are Notts County, we move on.

Here is what the outside world thinks about the appointment.
