  • Port Vale Post Match Thoughts

Sorry it's late as I was there.

Well we made hard work of that one.

Vale played well considering their sending off

We had our usual defensive lapse

Not a performance that will bring the crowds flooding back

Excellent first half- full of optimism.

Second half- I can't stress how bad we were. Everyone of Hamshaw's substitution made us weaker. Genuinely looked as though the halftime cuppa was loaded with tramadol.

The team that finished looked like a team of delinquent t eenagers who were playing football as a punishment for joyriding.

Also it is not his fault but Kion Etete, and this is no exaggeration, was the unfittest professional footballer I have ever seen on a pitch.

We spent the entire second half on the ropes against ten men. Penned in our own half. Comedy defending that we somehow got away with. No goal threat whatsoever. A win flatters us. Mr Hamshaw when we are at home we need to be on the front door. Your tactics were sorely lacking in the second half.

Hope all is well with the return Cam. Not sure if a Millers game every 2 weeks is a good or bad thing to come back to. Best wishes anyways.

As said above, bewildering 2 halfs. We are excellent in the 1st half but God damn awful after the break when Moore showed his experience with sending his side out with great attacking game plan which newly paid off for them. The worry is that there was no response from us although disagree with ibs in that every substitution didn't make us worse. We were getting outplayed before and couldn't really have gotten any worse. Without a doubt a large number of hastily acquired late signings will see some duds, and we surely have to give them time to settle in and gel. I expected nothing from today and at least we have a very encouraging forst half to build on. Well done to all for coming out and effectively winning the game by a great 1st half performance. It's now down to how quickly Matty can build the shape and play them into an effective unit.

A winning start when none expected. Happy with that.

Genuine supporters will understand it?s a new team what will take time. The usual moan and moan or attention seekers will just criticise.
            We won end of. UTM
Onto next game where genuine supporters will understand it?s a work in progress.

                First half excellent.
Second half instead of going for the juggular we sat back and invited pressure. Vale duly obliged and were unlucky in the end not to come away with a point.
That's on Hamshaw. The best form of defence is attack Matt. Don't you know that?
Jules sending off totally avoidable. Dawson messing around time wasting in the first half when we are 2 up playing 10 got Jules a needless first booking.
3 points is 3 points but man alive we don't half make it difficult for ourselves

The absolute definition of "Game of 2 halves",first half very good, but the sending off made us worse and them better, was nailed on that they would equalise in the 88th minute, but somehow they didn`t.
                    Nombe,Agbaire,James,Powell all excellent,Kelly,Raffa,Gore,Hugill,Hall,Yearwood,al l OK,the rest,lets just say it`s early days.
I really hope that Etete is unfit, because he looks like he came from the Pewter Pot,not Cardiff City, but I`ll give him a good chance like all of them.
As I said before,I`ll think this month will be hard, but we will slowly get better, but lets hope Sam isn`t badly injured and he gets another CB this week, and someone who can last more than 60 minutes.

James Kelly don't rate. Agbaire only one of the signings that didn't look out of place. Rafferty Nombe Powell apart we look weaker in most positions than last season.

Exactly as I thought , very weak down our left, we need a strong athletic player there, need a good strong centre back, and obviously a striker ? new lad looks like Bamby on Ice ? yes will give him a fair chance but he looks worse than I imagined !
By the way Benson had a shocker when he came on gave the ball away when he should have crossed the ball in which resulted in Jules getting caught out and sent off ! then another poor pass which nearly cost us an equaliser, this is what he did against Sheff United also ?

Agbaire is an excellent signing. We will make some good money from him down the line.
Hall looked like he will do a good job but as he's a FB/WB and we played 4 at the back his attacking skilled were not at their best. Again with time he could be a good asset.
Gore shone for 30 min then disappeared but again with time will be a huge asset.
From the sun's yearwood likes to get stuck in and looks like he can play a bit.
Rest of the team I though did ok and worked hard.

Benson had a mare. 5 touches and 4 were mistakes. 1st one putting Jules in trouble for the sending off.
Etete warming up with all the gear on I thought he looked the dogs bowlax. On the pitch. OMFG this lad can't run, when experts say "he was a yard off the pace". This lad was 3 weeks off the pace. Geeezus.
Martha looks lightweight. Unfit. And lost. Please get him a shirt that fits.
I just hope as others have said, early days but our depth is already looking thin.

It was yearwood who lost the ball , not Benson when jules was sent off , Benson passed to yearwood he had a heavy touch. And the ball ran to there player and Jules brought him down

Enjoyed first half and was surprised how well we played, second half completely different . Why the manager didn’t change it when they were pressing because their goal was coming. New lad the no 29 when he come on and started running if you can call it that I couldn’t stop laughing. Overhaul a wins a win and I would have been happy with a point at the start. We are work in progress and need to give it time.
