  • Rotherham United Player Contracts.

Was thinking about players we might sell in January (if any) and also the subject of player contracts.

I've noticed that out of all the clubs in L1, we have the most players out of contract in the summer. A total of 20 players are out of contract, which includes loanees. Link below.

This overview shows all expiring contracts (including loan deals) of all clubs of the League One which will run out in summer of 2026.

Rotherham United players out of contract summer 2026. Link below.

This is the overview of Rotherham players whose contracts run out at the end of the selected season. It also shows contract options and agents.

Reece James and Rafferty have been absolute stalwarts in defence this season, hopefully we can get them on new deals. Powell is another. It'll be interesting to see what happens to Hugill.

    Thoughts?

We will do what we always do , **** all until it’s too late I’ve no faith in the chairman and company getting it right . We’ll likely sell our better players in jan and if not they will go inthe summer.

Imo players we want to keep will sign again
Players like James and Rafferty are the wrong age to be moving for more money than we are offering. Or either not good enough to move to bigger clubs.
From those 20 out of contract. How many , as fans do we want to keep...
      4? Maybe 5

James, Rafferty, Powell and benson are imo worth new deals. Hugill Ayres Jules mcwillams and dawson you could make a case for all but depending which league we're in.

Cayton I agree with the first 3 absolute no brainier Benson possibly but needs to apply himself more in this division not just against Salford kids, harsh maybe but i honestly don?t think he?d get in the first 11 if everyone fit, I like McWilliams also every squad needs someone like him, I?d definitely get rid of Jules due to his injury record Hugill though has done well lately doesn?t score enough the likes of Raggett Dawson (sure there?s a better keeper we could get) Kayode McCuckin Kelly can all go various reasons either injury/poor form/age

Head on Raggett Jules McWilliams Kelly Yearwood J Holmes McGuckin Kayode release. Not sure about Hugill. Benson got an option of a further year.

Whilst RU66 is way off the mark with regards his worth/place at RUFC I'm not sure I agree with that assessment of one of our players. He's a young man who has probably spent over half his life working at becoming a professional footballer and he's achieved the equivalent of what we all on here probably dreamed of but were never good enough to fulfil.

Apologies CA I was probably being harsh with that rather crude assessment, I rephrase it as he?s not up to standard

McGuckin is he playing out on loan, injured? He needs a manager to believe in him there's something there. Would give him a chance before J Holmes on the right.

Gru,your obsession, which is what it is,with McG is bizarre.
If he was good enough for our first team he would be here now fighting for a place, why do think Hamshaw has got something against him,he hasn't.
Try backing the manager and the players who are actually in the team, instead of childish ways of finding fault all the effing time.

I think most on here would have guessed that you're not a Hammy-clapper. You criticise but don't explain the criteria for what would, in your opinion, make a good manager.

So, serious question, what qualities do you look for in "my type" of manager?
