Teams were targeting our left side from the first match of the season and we got destroyed down that side in several matches in our early struggles, wide players were getting behind James when he was wing back ! I said from day one we needed a left back who could double up as centre back or wing back with a bit of pace aka Revan or similar !

Said to my grandson on the way to NYS that it was a banana skin game and went on to explain what it meant. A team we had a good record against, a manager we had a good record against and the dangling carrot of 8th or 9th place with a win. What could go wrong? Well, everything could and did. Just about polar opposite to the Lincoln game, even down to a smilarly well executed corner that worked a dream in one game but ended in row Z last night.

After that miss by JH when we were just 1-0 down I fear I may never see him score. He has a hard task as lone target man but still needs to put away the chances, even when they do come to you unexpectedly.

Everything about that performance last night stank of complacency.
Ooooh look us on this unbeaten run playing at home against a team in the bottom 4.
We had lost before we stepped on the pitch because they thought they only had to turn up.
        Wrong and bad attitude

We've had a great run with practically no forwards and makeshift defence, so no need to be too critical.
However the first half was dire, and Powell was caught for the goal, just think when he'd asked to play in full back position, when we're defending, his positional sense isn't very good, bit like Bramhall really.
Gave the ball away far too much, and very little threat up front, let's hope Nombe is back VERY soon.
Shame to see Douglas go off, don't think he did much wrong, actually came the closest to scoring !
Kaleta did well, so did Gore and Martha.
Disappointed but not a disaster, on to Plymouth.

Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe how I felt leaving the stadium last night.

Team selection - fully at Hamshaws feet. Why did he change it like he did? Was it the knowing a club sitting second bottom and who of late couldn't buy a league win made him think he would tinker with certain positions? Big mistake Matt big mistake.

Powell who is by far one of our better players, albeit his crosses are truly woeful, was put in a position akin to a fish out of water who flapped at everything thrown at him from the off. James made to play more central? ala Powell's position. Watch the video replay Matt then message to self, 'Don't do that again'.

Complacent/attitude/non application, all on show for most of our lot last night mainly in the first half, even the talented Hall was MIA for most of the game. Why is it when we play anyone in the bottom four do we disappear up out own arses? Dawson doesn't come out of this unscathed. A junior school kid could have stopped the first goal, what was he thinking? Legs apart a bus could have gone under. Just not good enough from many players in another go slow first half.

Praise has to go to Dan Gore, the only man in the middle who put a shift in. I wouldn't be surprised at all if a club puts a bid in for him come January. We will then lose a very valuable player with no one anywhere near good enough to deliver from our current squad, what he does. As for Spence, Benson and Hall, they need to ask themselves, 'Why did I play so poor last nigh?'

The lack of effort in the first half was more than woeful. We did come alive more with the introduction of Kaleta who ran them ragged in the second half, so mush so, their Manager saw that and made an instant sub to counter meaSure him. Poor finishing from us, great saves from their keeper and the clinical finishing from them from our poor passing mistakes, sealed off what was a very poor performance all round.

Hopefully we can put this one behind us and Hamshaw learns from it, the players learn from it and they deliver much to the standard that saw us go and a great mini run. I'll be down there on Saturday shouting them on and hopefully we can address all that's been raised by what folk have posted on last night and come home with at least a point if not all three. UTM.

Is it 3 strikes & out well Martha on last 3 games he's used them up. Only Baptist & Gore can take any credit from last night. Kaleta another cut inside player 10 a penny. Summer transfer window will haunt us till we put it right starting with the forwards.

Where did he change the team selection? It was the exact same eleven that started the last league game?

Team selection keeping like I said his favourites happy. Baptist should have started James at left wing back. Martha benched.

                      Positions, I meant positions.

I did mention that quite openly on my second paragragh...

Fair enough, I personally didn't notice anyone playing in a different position to what they did last time. It's a funny game, we all see different things.

We do indeed. Stuck out though like a sore thumb Powell at left back and as for James getting clobbered on the head, he was mostly playing to the right of Powell almost making it a back four. Totally out of position and not use to dealing with a high ball hence the knock on the head.

As an example, if you look at their first goal below, ball goes wide for Powell to deal with which James would have and James is on the inside of Powell. Like that most of the game hence their bombardment of attacking us down our left most of the game.

Their second goal, a mistake through Spence, sees James back in plenty of time to deal with the cross but, gets nowhere near it. Again, not his usual position but could have done better than that.

Like I said, I didn't notice anything different, to my eyes, James has been playing left of a back three with Powell at left wing back for weeks. Well actually that's not true, I did notice one difference, it didn't work this time. The defence wasn't great last night but it's going forward that's the issue, it's no coincidence that we've won five and only lost one of the seven games Nombe has been involved in this season. His return can't come quick enough.

In the spirit of honesty and speaking your mind...
I'll say it again, we have got some absolute Poundland fans. Utter sh**e again.

                              1. If my young daughter can brave the (not especially) cold weather, the watch-on-Sky season ticket holders should be embarrassed. At least one bloke on here just doesn't bother with midweek games, but always has a moan on the board from his armchair.

                              2. After a decent unbeaten run, and increasing signs of well planned set pieces and fast paced passing, listening to some of them moan last night was unbearable. One such highlight reel level numpty in our section was on at the team and fans around him (or 'it') from the second minute to the last. Shouting abuse at our players, accusing fans around him of being 'happy clappers' because they told him to shut up, and generally being so hell bent on being a negative tw@ that he failed to realise Benson got injured as he berated the ref for going past 5 minutes of injury time.

                              3. The lack of perspective is (as ever) astounding. We had a poor game, we made mistakes, and they made us pay far more than we made them pay when given our chances. Someone mentioned xG on here recently, and on that metric (as flimsy as it can be), we won 2-1. The two issues are that (1) the game isn't played on a laptop, and (2) once sections of our fans make their mind up in any direction (the highlight reel numpty being a great example), they chuck perspective into the bin and keep going on a completely one-sided rant.

Blackpool were fortunate enough to capitalise on our mistakes, but were otherwise poor value for a 3-0 win. Last night wasn't the descent to doom and gloom being made out by some. A bad game. Write it off, get behind the lads again, and see it for what it was. Contrary to what some think, I though Dawson was decent (speaking as someone who isn't a huge fan), Douglas was decent, Rafferty was decent, Gore was good, Hall put a shift in, Benson looked good until going off, (after the howler) Powell put a shift in, and Kaleta and Baptiste had a decent go when they came on. It wasn't a good performance, but after the last couple of seasons it's not even a bottom 10 performance.

Agree with this. Same team same positions. The difference I did notice was when Blackpool attacked they have 3 or 4 bombing forward which forced Powell further back. Imo Spence hugil Martha and Benson were the problem there as they kept giving the ball away or making misplaced passes.
I've said it for weeks. Martha adds nothing to this team. We don't need passengers.
