  • Oh dear I bet T/S his not a happy bunny.

A heritage body has lodged an objection to a major hotel development proposed for a former foundry site in Rotherham.
The Guest & Chrimes brassworks, built in the 19th Century, was the site where the distinctive red New York fire hydrants were produced and was given Grade II listed status for its "industrial significance" in 1986.
Stewart Developments Ltd plan to transform one of the buildings into a hotel reception, bar and restaurant area and demolish two other buildings to create a new 138-room hotel.
Historic England's objection states the proposal would cause "a substantial amount of harm" and emphasises the importance of retaining more of the historic structure.

How does a brass foundry make cast iron fire hydrants?

It doesn’t, it is a myth, one of the many in the G&C narrative

Ditto how can a site be the place the screw tap was invented when the patent was placed years before the factory was built? It can’t

G&C involvement with brass screw taps started on their original factory site which was demolished years ago not at that ugly building parked next to the NYS

Guest and Chrimes made fires hydrants right up to it's closure. Still in use today and gratefully used by fire brigades all over the UK, Middle and Far East countries.
The link between New York USA fire hydrants and Guest and Chrimes is definitely a myth. The reason New York Stadium being so called is because that area of Rotherham was at one time called New York. There is also a New York in South Lincolnshire.

If English Heritage are that bothered about it then they should foot the bill for making it safe.

Even better, they should do their research properly.
You would think that a body known English Heritage would be good at researching the Heritage of England and its old structures!!!

I'm sure that part of the original plan for stadium was demolition of G&C to build a hotel.
This would have offset some of cost of building the NYS,would this site have even been picked if this wasn't going to happen ?

Wonder if Tony Stewart told English Heritige & the council that he would build the hotel, then fill it full of immigrints, the Labour council would approve it being demolished.

Guest and Chrimes definitely didn't produce the red fire hyrants in New York although they may have produced brass stop taps used in them.
