We didn’t deserve anything from the game - we hardly had a touch in the first half and created zero. Excuse after excuse.

As soon as TS puts the bottle down, he will be on the phone from HMS Old Soak to pull the trigger. Then we will have six weeks of the usual rubbish before we end up with Richard Wood until the end of the season. Disaster
If you look at the stats . We had the 3rd most shots of any away side in the league today. So to say we didn't create anything isn't true . Powell Martha and Nombe. All had good chances to score.. I think James hit the bar or it looked like it from where I was sat..and Hugill and Nombe both had half chances with headers late on ..we were worth a point in my opinion today .. did you honestly see that much of a gulf between us and Bolton, because I certainly didn't, there 3rd and were 4th bottom , there isn't that much between any side in this league.

The difference is our keeper made three top quality saves, they coasted in the second half and turned up the pressure when they had to because they had the ability to. Also Douglas cleared off the line and blocked a certain goal, Powell blocked two certain goals as well. We improved in the second half but the Holmes’s/Douglas decision was horrendous and we called it a the time. If Douglas was injured the club captain was on the bench and he has had a decent season, watching Holmes’s at Salford and last week nobody would put him on unless we have to play him. We are not a team, we have a few decent talented players that are carrying the rest, a coaching staff that prefer big boot to football, owners that have lost interest (as have a lot of fans), a under performing recruitment team and a training ground that is so unfit for purpose that multiple managers and ex-players have commented on and clearly is linked to the injury issues. This is a club in crisis and too many people involved are not up to it or not bothered.

Nah, this training ground line is just an excuse for bad players. Maradona played on a tip of a pitch, Pele played barefoot, Best played on a mudbath.
Good players can play on anything. End of

If it makes no difference for good players why do clubs spend so much on the training facilities?

John Robertson played 250 CONSECUTIVE matches on slag heap pitches.
In contrast we now have handbag carrying prima donnas demanding this that and t'other and getting injured if someone sneezes at them.
I'd pick Robbo in front of any of them.
              Wrong am I?

Thought today we were worth a point. First half we were poor. 2nd half we were the better side.

Just for yak. Not sure why Douglas came off for Holmes, only hamshaw knows why he did that.but hamshaw biggest crime today and for a number of games was putting Martha in the games. Ok we are limited on options. But FFS hammy. He's a passenger

                  Agree about Martha.
We had a better option on bench than Holmes if he had to take Douglas off.
How many of MH signings have worked?

                  Poor recruitment generally.

And that poor recruitment started with Hamshaw himself

The decision for TS is about the January window, a good window could keep us up, but what is a good window for us? Do you trust Scott and Hamshaw with another window?
1, . MH indicated that Martha was wanted, so sell if we can make a bit on him
                      2. Keep Nombe with agreement to invoke extension but allow him to be sold in the summer
                      3. Send back sheriff, Holmes’s and teeter
                      4. Get rid of Kelly, J holmes
                      5. Compromise agreement with Hugill if possible, but at least try

I'm not convinced yet that hamshaw is a bad coach/manager. Though he needs to learn quickly or he won't have his job...
Injury's have forced him into playing players out of position. Half of the injured players are back or close to coming back. So it's probably fair to judge his ability in May..
We all know in the modern game without a strong midfield you don't win games.
The 9 game run was because we had a strong midfield even though out back and front players were missing.
Now we have our front and back coming back to fitness bit our midfield has been weakened..
Our midfield 3 from Powell, Spence, gore, Benson, can compete with most league one teams. Stick yearwood or Kelly in there and we're weakened.

Good points. 2 issues though how long till they are injured again? We don?t need a midfield we just hoof it.

Already said all that poor recruitment apart from Gore who Evans signed rest tell me one that's adding much to the side now? apart from Baptist. Got to make best of what we've got till the January window.

Try T Holmes up front with Nombe. Baptist centre mid. Side at Blackpool:

                            Dawson

                            Rafferty Douglas Jules

                            Hall Gore Baptist Powell James

                            T Holmes Nombe

Mm...Lots more replies to a thread. Posters abusing each other, the manager and the players. The training ground coming into dispute again.
Must be on a losing streak.

What's coming through loud and clear is the disconnect between the club and fans , this is something I can identity with because it's the same at Oakwell , we've both lost our way on the pitch and so the disconnect grows .

The reason for the disconnect isn't necessarily the fault of Rotherham or Barnsley but more to do with the way the game is today and if you are of a certain age you remember what it once was , which isn't to say the game was perfect back in the day but in my opinion there was more connection between players and fans back then mainly because there wasn't a massive differential in what John Breckin earned and the fans stood on the Tivoli End .

Paul Stancliffe stayed at Rotherham for a number of season's as did Mick McCarthy at Oakwell and you saw these players grow from young lads , neither today would be around more than one season and so you never feel that same connection anymore .

It's hard to imagine that John Stones ever played for Barnsley at all , it's like it never happened and he's one of the best players we've ever produced and so when you factor in the hundreds of journeyman we've seen wear the colours of both clubs the disconnect never leaves us .

It gets diluted when we have a bit of success i guess , promotions to league one and so forth but even then it doesn't feel like 1980 / 81 either and so when you are having a poor time of it as we both are right now there's not a right lot to hang your hat on .

Both of our clubs it seems to me are desperate for some new energy , nobody seems to know how to get ourselves out of this rut , you used to hear alot of Tony Stewart in the media and now you don't so much and we had an owner who watched every single game , the current owner is foreign and almost never in the country .

The truth is there's nothing going on right now that you'd miss so much , just treading water and hoping something turns up is about the best of it , it turns out the best of it in any case would be promoted to the next level in a league we can't compete in which wasn't how I felt in 1981 and I guess neither did the Millers .
