    This is a difficult one.
People keep saying we should sell players rather than let them walk away for free as has happened multiple times before.
So here we are, someone wants to buy our biggest asset and presumably is prepared to pay the asking price.
There may be only one prospective buyer and we're not really in a position to refuse to sell to them if we need the money regardless of where that buyer's team sits in the league table.
It may not be palatable to most people but nobody said it would be easy and what really matters is what our club then does with the money it receives.

If he has been sold then I cannot wait until we sign his injury prone replacement with the undisclosed fee money.

Stockport were interested in the summer and from what I understand, he nearly went there. Suspect they might be back with a 300k offer which will be more than enough

Trying to put a positive spin on it presumably there is a bit of money available to spend and we did supposedly offer a deal to Watmore and there MAY well be replacements lined up if/when Nombe is sold
Looking at it negatively why are we selling to a relegation rival, I don’t think he’s championship standard but is our main goal threat UNLESS like I say we have someone lined up MT said a few weeks ago he’d been given the green light to go and get some strikers but that was when we were mid table plus we are going to need an additional striker IF Nombe goes
January is a horrible time to get someone in you should just be topping your squad with maybe 3 or 4 players at most, this just shows our horrendous recruitment not just last summer but the last couple of years, don’t know about anyone else but I feel a mix of depression anger and embarrassment at how this club is being run from top to bottom and to be honest getting to the stage where I can’t be ar sed at what happens or will happen in the future

What's the betting that we are weaker after the transfer window shuts?

Probably no doubt about it.....and we certainly will be if the plan is to sell our top scorer and replace him with the jobless, non-scoring Watmore!

Watmore doesn't want to play for us, I'm sure MH said that in one of his interviews. Besides, from what I understand he had a run out with Sheffield Wednesday U21s a couple of weeks ago so it looks like he'll be going there if anywhere.

He turned us down when we were mid-table so he ain?t coming now.

I understand your point but there is a lot of assumptions in there, firstly who says we have to sell? Secondly he can be sold in the summer for money as he is still under contract I believe. The window isn?t open yet so how do we know they are the only team interested? Is there any evidence that we are touting our players to clubs? How do we know that they have offered the money we think he is worth?
This is RUFC we do not have the best football savvy people running the club, the chances that they have suddenly become football business geniuses and done a great deal for the club is pretty slim in my view.

All this talking of Peterborough wanting Nombe. You can see it all now, they buy him and in no time at all, probably at the end of the season, they demand and get 5 mill for him such is Barry Fry's power in negotiations.

Thing is he's injured so he's going nowhere.

*cough* I wondered when someone was going to catch up.

                              It's probably the training pitch
Nah, I think they would to double their investment and get 2 million quid when really it should be 3.
Matt Taylor was a lousy manager and the only good thing he did was signing Nombe.
We have improved him and now someone else gets the benefit
                              I might be completely wrong.
                              I hope I am.
First time I've wanted a player to be injured

I'm not saying we know any of those things, just, if that is the scenario you can bet your bottom dollar we'll sell at the first opportunity.
I wonder if anyone has thought of including a substantial sell on clause because, as Brin says, if Peterborough do buy him they'll probably make a big profit when they eventually move him on.
